Here's another one. :) Chibi Maruko-chan Uki Uki Shopping. It's a board game where you compete against computer or human opponents to visit a set number of locations and get the most happiness points. You can shop at the various locations for kids toys and candy, many of which seem to be either actual products, or are based on real products.

As with the other projects I started recently, I've made table files, dumped the script, inserted a font, and started translation. I considered making a "Filler's Translation Projects" thread, but decided to keep these projects separate for now.

BTW: This has a ridiculous text encoding. Most of it is just a jumble of characters.

Example:  :D
29=を
2A=わ
2B=し
2C=す
2D=も
2E=ゃ
2F=た
30=ち
31=ん
32=る

I can't believe you put sex in a video game localization. Very disrespectful to the source material

I assumed he was just saying that a variable width font would be as sexy as a Hawaiian Christian radio station.

Could it be one of those cases where characters are numbered "in order of appearance"?

That's what I was thinking. Is the font in that same order in VRAM?

If not, then.... that is weird.

Here's the font from the game. The encoding is in order as it appears so perhaps it's not that strange. This is my first time seeing a font that doesn't follow the a-ka-sa-ta-na order.

Looking at it again... I guess they didn't have enough room for a full hiragana/katakana font. Like, they started off with a full hiragana font, but took out a bunch of characters and replaced them with random katakana. It's extremely weird.

That's one advantage of an English-language translation, though. Plenty of room for upper- and lower-case, plus all that space left over for squishy text. :)

DarknessSavior

That doesn't even have an entire set of hiragana!

It feels like they wrote the script and then figured out whatever characters the script used and left out the ones it didn't.

They were tight on space, yet they bothered to include both hiragana and katakana ri.  ::)
