If anyone is looking for an easy game to translate...
« on: April 08, 2017, 04:05:34 pm »
I found an obscure Gameboy game called "Battle of Kingdom". It appears that the game is in English except for the story.
Just FYI in case someone is looking for a quick project or a weekend activity.

I dunno, maybe I'll bite if there's not too much text.

I was thinking of translating Final Fight or Streets of Rage into Spanish. I once translated a 100-page book or so into Spanish, with the aid of Google Translate. Although, with hex I'd have manually enter letters with accents and that special ñ character into the game alphabet wherever they store the text. Also for menus may have to change pointers for some strings which could be a hassle.

I hacked this game and translated the bits that needed to done, but it looks like there's an ending that needs to be done. Someone's gonna have to play the game and get me a savestate preferably from BGB, Bizhawk, Gambatte etc.

can't get anymore easier than Bomberman Jetters for the GBA! The tools to translate it are already done, and i can take care of inserting the translated lines on the game no problem. Also, there's a text previewer to check how the translated line will look in the game beforehand.

Thanks. Now all I gotta do is get that translated and the game is good to go.

I was looking at Meldac's other games and stumbled upon Tenjin Kaisen, which was released stateside as Mercenary Force. The interesting part is that they made a sequel that's a completely different genre. It went from being a hori shmup to an adventure/vn game. If I'm gonna do part 2, I might as well redo 1 to keep the titles consistent.
