ROM Hacks: Roll-chan World GAMEBOY - Player Sprite hack RELEASED!

In commemoration of Mega Man's 29th Anniversary and beyond!

Zynk Oxhyde previously released ROLL-CHAN for the NES! Roll-chan is a player sprite hack which replaces Mega Man with his sister Roll. Today Zynk releases FIVE new player sprite hacks, but this time for the GAMEBOY, ROLL-CHAN WORLD!

Continue the super robot girl's adventure in saving the world against the evil Dr. Wily, the mad scientist who, once more, attempts to fulfill his ambition of world domination.

Just like before in the NES, Roll is joined by her trusty pet robot cat Tango, replacing the role of Rush the robot dog. All sprites and custom sprite arts are all done by Zynk. The player sprites are structured differently for the Gameboy so adjustments were made to accommodate the more limited tile space.

There are note worthy changes made to some sprites, i.e. Dr. Wily's machines in Rockman World 2 are greatly improved (managed to make Wily into his normal size); some minor enemies got improved sprites (e.g. Mag Fly, Peterchy, Returning Monking). AND a new character, Quart, the future version of Roll who was kidnapped from the future and brainwashed by none other than Dr. Wily.

It's great to see Roll in Mega Man Games for the Game Boy. I liked how the hack creator used Rollchan World for Rockman World cause the original titles we got were the same name from the NES Games. All but six cause there were only five Megaman Gameboy games.

Have you put Roll into Magical Doropie yet? It had some pretty nice cutscenes that would be primte for customizing.

Anyone got an image of the Wily machines from Roll-Chan World 2? I'd love to play these, but after the internet shut me down for rom downloading, I've been incredibly hesitant on downloading roms, and I don't think the fact I technically own Megaman 2 GB on my 3DS would change anything.

One of the things interesting about Magical Doropie is that there's actually three playable characters, tho the other two require some variation of the Konami Code to play as them. So in theory one could make a single hack that allows you to play as Classic Roll, MM8 Roll and Megaman. Which could even have their own unique cutscenes, I think... I seem to recall the cutscenes for other two characters playing out from their perspectives, but I could be wrong.

I... did not know that about Magical Doropie.  Those extra costumes are really neat!  Doropie's beret costume is especially cute!

Too bad neither Doropie-to-Megaman hack takes those into account.  Boy howdy, what a mess!
