Using xdelta3 on Sonic the Hedgehog Improvement V1.0 [NES]

So I picked up a copy of Somari from Sonic Retro on the grounds of getting an NES Sonic game and proceeded to patch it up. The Improvement V1.0 patch,I had no trouble with. I was able to play a little bit of the game. It's when I proceeded with Ti's addendum for the music that I've ran into snag, as when I use xdelta3 to combine the game with the music patch, I get an error message that reads, "target window checksum mismatch xd3_invalid_input". So I've tried other methods hoping that it would fix the problem, but nothing I can think of helps.

Can somebody please walk me through this process? Right now I really stumped.
