I contacted a month ago to an user in a Rom hacking forum in Brazil, he's working on restoring Capcom games to their arcade colors.

Currently he's working in a v1.1 of this patch. His works are top notch.

I checked out some of his videos, I'm really impressed with his work.

Why didn't Capcom made them look like that in the first place, because now they look dead on to their arcade counterparts.

I'm really looking forward to his Street Fighter II Turbo color hack.

I'm encouraging him to be a member of this forum, so he could upload the IPS patches he made so far.

Already done:
+Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers.

In revision:
+Captain Commando(the logo and the ending were unedited).

To do:
-King of Dragons.
-Knights of the Round.
-The Punisher(SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis).

Good news, fellows!

I received permission from this user, Proteus, to make the IPS Patches for his edits.
Now, I need to read the rules for submitting patches from a third party.

Screenshots by me, from v1.1.

I made a very small patch for that game that would change the name of the stage 7 boss from Boots back to Blood and it would also change the name of the final boss from Scumocide back to Genocide as well.

You should ask him if wants to use my patch for his hack, you should also ask him if he can decensor the sprites of the Carol & Brenda enemies to make them both look more like their arcade counterparts as well: https://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/34/36441.png

That's something I missed, but IMHO...

Boots to Blood? OK.
Decensoring Brenda and Carol? Nice suggestion, though requires more detailed work..
But changing Scumocide's international name? That name was in the int. versions of the Arcade.

It's like I want to change all name of Akuma appearances as Gouki. Just... don't overpush that.

(While we're discussing this, Proteus already sent the IPS Patch to this forum. I hope he gets approved.)

[I knew it, the girls' doesn't have a sliced or melting death animation...]

Scumocide is his censored name, Capcom USA gave him that name when they brought the game over here because they were worried that people might get offended that his name is Genocide.

Don't worry, I won't overpush it. I'm fine with his name being Akuma over here, but the name changes I'm not a fan of is when they swapped the names of the Street Fighter II bosses around because they were worried about getting sued by Mike Tyson.

Why didn't they just changed the boxer's name to something else that won't sound similar to Tyson's name, I'll never know.

Yeah, they never gave the female enemies unique death animations in all versions of this game.

RealGaea

I guess that's the year Tyson got sued becauise of a Rape incident.

I know... I'm getting a headache for the censorship for Final Fight.
The reason I entered this forum is to get rid of that issue with a good patch. One that restores the original feeling of the game.
And I don't want any unused theme. Insert Rolento's stage theme is going to be more difficult, though.

I aksed him if he'll do a patch for the JAP version of CaptComm. and regarding SFF2, do you know a tool or a tutorial to remove Capcom's copy-protection? He used a Pal-M already modified ROM to make the color change.

Midna

I think Capcom just didn't want a likeness infringement lawsuit, especially considering M. Bison/Balrog tends to be a heel so to speak.

Yeah, 1991 was the year that Tyson got arrested and Street Fighter II was released in the arcades.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Blame Nintendo of America for all the censorship that Final Fight had to go through.

Someone made a custom SNES version of Rolento's theme on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8UFAirr21k

Tell him not to patch the Japanese version of Captain Commando, tell him to use the American versions of all the SNES ports of Capcom arcade games that he's currently working on for his patches.

You should also ask him if he's planning to make arcade color hacks for the rest of the SNES ports of the Capcom arcade games as well.

I don't know any tool that can bypass Capcom's copy-protection for the version he's using for Super Street Fighter II.

Especially in the arcade version of Street Fighter II, M.Bison's face in his portrait looked dead on to Tyson's:

In the later games, they made him look less like Tyson in his portraits.

RealGaea

Actually, the theme was added in the EUR versions of Final Fight, and all three versions of Final Fight Guy.

https://tcrf.net/Final_Fight_(SNES)#Restored_Music

The thing I'm planning to do is to insert that theme (because is muted for unknown reasons) and put it in Uptown Area, Part 2.
And replace the former theme as Uptown, Area Part 1. So no theme gets unused (and with a name of "Streets of Luxury" it fits better).

Ah, and apply the "dog cheat" back to the Cody version. It only works in PAL.

It's gonna be a "final fight" of a hack...

SCD

Oh wow, I didn't know that was the actual song from the SNES game. I thought it was custom made, sorry about that.

The best version to hack is the Japanese version of Final Fight Guy, because it's uncensored, it has all the fixes from the PAL version, it has two exclusive items and new animations.

For Uptown Part 1, give it the Industrial Area music. For Uptown Part 2, give it the Rolento's theme music.
