I'm just asking for the original snes/ds text back as an optional patch, not hating for removal of things others may like. Imagine to time travel to 600 AD and find out everyone talks as Monty Phyton, even peasants, dramatically and with forced accents and weird phrasing as if they all were in a play. It's just that inmmersion removing for me ^^U It makes me really sad because if it wasn't for that, this version of Chrono Trigger would be my new default way of experiencing my favourite game of my childhood. Specifically since 600 AD was always my favourite age of the game and its ruined and annoying and immersion breaking for me now. That's why I posted here if the patch could be made, even though I know it's a bit of a hassle of work.
I get where you're coming from, but I see it a little differently. For me, I like the way Frog talks in the original SNES version, and this. Chrono Trigger (and Chrono Cross of course much more) just did that, to have the characters stand out with unique ways of speaking, or 'accents'. Frog, to me, that's just the way
he speaks, despite how the other NPCs in that time do... perhaps they just don't? I feel it's intentional as opposed to a foolish oversight, like "oops we forgot to make the NPCs talk like that also". It's like Frog may indeed be the last person to talk that formal/shakespearean - to me it's just part of his awesome character. Take that aspect away from him, and while still cool, he just doesn't seem like the Frog I know and love.
Now about making an optional patch, not only would it be a whole lot of (extra) work I'd imagine, but you would have to update the patch each time a dialog change is made, because of how dialog pointers work. So that would become a pain as well - juggling two separate dialog scripts doesn't sound like fun lol. If anything the patch would ideally be made for the "final" version when there is no more possible dialog edits.
