will provide the Sram/save state data if needed

I'll get to it soon enough as I play through and fix things. I want to do a bit of work on that whole area since it feels more rushed than anywhere else.

ThegreatBen

Still working on all the small details. Ayla is now fully integrated as a character if obtained early. This includes dialog, animated reactions, and she is now present at the sleepover at Frog's. The one exception to this is the hall of deciet in Magus' castle as it seems to have reached its sprite limit, so she won't have any creepy doppelganger there.

Crono is now fully working as a non mc (up to Magus). No more being forced into the party, no more awkward screen transitions. Every character can stab the Masamune into the ground in Front of the magic cave, and any party combination will react then back up if you try to leave while Melchior is fixing the Masamune.

Other things of note are that Battle 2 now plays while defending Zenan bridge(this was supposed to have been this way for a while but I had the wrong trigger).

The cutscene the plays when you visit Magus' statue in Medina for the first time has also been fixed.( I have no clue why this wasn't working, the script for it was identical to the vanilla).

So have you posted an update? I haven't seen one in the queue. Or are you just making status updates? If so it's nice to see progress!

Right now I've only got everything done up to Magus. There was a lot to do, and still lots to go.

Ok Impala!

You can actually play as Ayla?  :o Or am I misreading something here? Sounds like a huge add-on if that's the case! Seeing all the changes I think just adding + to Chrono Trigger doesn't do justice to all your hard work. You might consider a more fitting name, your hack deserves it!  :)

In this hack Ayla can be recruited early, pretty much when you reach the End of Time actually.  But up till now it was more of a novelty, she had no interactions with anything. In the upcoming version she'll be as fleshed out as all the other characters for parts she wasn't originally there for.

I've also started expanding the condensed version of prophet's guile. In ng+ you'll be able to act out Magus' rise to power in Zeal.

pleasejust

Amazing. Looking forward to it.

MrLuke

Hi! I think I found a bug. When finishing Fiona's quest and taking Robo back, the sixth character (if you have recruited Magus) is replaced by Robo permanently.

ThegreatBen

In older versions I made it so that on ng+ you could do the forest quest early and Frog and Ayla might not have been recruited yet.

But it caused tons of trouble so I made the sapling woman in Zeal only appear when you can go there as part of the story. So in 2.5 I reverted the campfire portion back to vanilla, save for human Glenn.

So next version this should hopefully be fixed for good.

OK, so... 2ish years or so after discovering this and making the PCMs for the restored tracks, I'm finally actually playing it, lol.

Quick question though... At what point can you access the new 1999 content? I just got the Epoch, and taking it to 1999 just drops me at Lavos' emergence, as in the vanilla game.

Also, since I'm about to hit that point in the game... How do I trigger the optional fight vs the prophet?

ThegreatBen

You have to go through the cult of lavos dungeon in 2300 ad to get there. I have a partially done 2.5 version thats worlds above the one here if you want.

Is the Cult of Lavos dungeon accessible before the Epoch gets its wings?

I'm already quite a ways into the game on the v2.4 patch, not sure about switching over to a different version mid-playthrough.

What's changed between versions? I can probably switch over before starting NG+.

ThegreatBen

You can walk across to the cult of Lavos as soon as you first get to 2300, however you won't be able to beat it until much later.

2.5 has a lot more care and polish, things like Shakespearean English in 600 ad, being able to fly to 1999 anytime(after the conditions are met) and far more character interaction in the new content.

There should be no danger from switching patches mid way through, but it's up to you.

edale

Any hints on where exactly the cult is, so I don't waste a lot of time searching?

So far, pretty much all the new content has been seamlessly integrated to the point that I would have thought it was in the original if I didn't know better.
Only bit that I thought could use touching up is the post-optional-prophet fight. That needs some sort of effect to signify him transporting away instead of him just vanishing over the course of 1 frame.

Only real bug I've found so far is a minor one. In the Earthbound One's Village, before the Mountain of Woe, when you enter one of the rooms, it immediately starts a text dialog as if you'd spoken to one of the people in the room.

I'll try the 2.5 patch on NG+. Expect corrections on that Shakespearean English, lol.

ThegreatBen

The Cult of Lavos is the big coliseum in 2300.

The prophet does have a little better send-off now but I plan to work it even more, maybe make it an actual event rather than a novelty fight.

Portal at the end of the cult of lavos area, and the start of the 1999 area has the circles misaligned (there's a crescent moon of black, that doesn't have the portal effect).

No music on the worldmap of 1999.

*edit- Just watched the "movie." Good Job. I was laughing through a good chunk of that. "Frog: next time I pick the movie." lol.

*edit2- and now I AM getting music on the 1999 worldmap... weird.

*edit3- OK, so it's using track 15 for the worldmap in 1999, which is a non-looping track. So one the rather short song plays once, it's just silence afterwards until something causes the music to change or restart. Not sure how the SPC sounds, as I'm using MSU audio.
Nope, silence happens on SPC as well.

*edit4- question, is it possible to open the sealed chest in the residence right below the sewer access in 1999?
Also, In 1999 Proto Dome, there should be some extra text somewhere if Robo is in the party.

ThegreatBen

Portal to 1999 fixed in 2.5

The music in 1999 works wonderfully with the symphony music. without it, not so much.

The sealed chest in Medina can be opened after the Omen is destroyed at least once.

The is lots of extra text from both the necessity and the party in 2.5
