Not to be "that guy," but any consideration to adding the prototype idea of different battle themes per era?

Just came to mind with all the music talk.  :)

It's a cool idea, but there aren't enough battle themes in the final, even with the added tracks.

The proto just changed up the instruments, which would be a lot easier than creating new tracks entirely.

Yes, I thought about it. I believe that to be speculation more than anything though. People heard a percussion-heavy version of the battle theme and jumped to the conclusion that it was a prehistoric theme. There are other songs that have slightly different instrumentation too. In reality, the early trailers for CT have very similar instrumentation to the unused battle theme playing for all battles. It's just an early, less-pleasant version of the same battle theme we got.

I'm using retro arch, how do I install the optional files? I have the main one working (by renaming the same as the rom) but can't do that with the optional as well.

ThegreatBen

You have to patch them on with an ips patcher.

That reminds me I have an update to release.

Ok thanks a lot. Also looking forward to the release.

You'd want to do that anyway - better to have it as one file.

They're wrong btw. Recent versions of RA allow the 3 patch formats it supports, on the emulators it supports (those with small rom sizes mostly) to compose multiple softpatches by naming their extensions '.extension#'

For instance:
romname.sfc
romname.ips
romname.ips1
romname.ips2

Is a rom with 3 patches applied as ips, ips1 and ips2 in order (although the display has a bug that says the opposite order, don't mind it). Worst part is remembering which is which when you need to update (but i keep the order and urls in a tool i use to check updates so it's not a big deal to me)

Now if only the cores that support chd actually supported delta chd (it requires scanning the directory to find the 'parent' - it's not part of the data, except the checksum of the parent iirc).

I played this hack mostly all the way thru on my Wii in MSU1 mode using SNES 9x GX, and greatly enjoyed it. I say "mostly" because it glitched out at the ending. I am using the current version. I believe the problem has to do with MSU1 because when I tried it without it I was able to burst thru into Lavos using the Epoch, which I was not able to do when using the MSU1 version; I am not interested in going all the way thru to the ending at this point, since the game apparently registers that I beat it and have New Game +. Please find my .srm and .frz files in the .zip linked to here. I'm not sure if it's a glitch from this hack or just this hack + MSU1.

That glitch is caused by the MSU-1 patch, I should try to find a workaround.

Actually I could probably duplicate that song and use the duplicate on that map so that it won't use the MSU-1 track.

Fantastic work!
By the way, if I may can I take a look at some of the maps and modify them a little bit I will make them a bit more scenic and more like a square designer built them...

Just a thought I've been bored lately doing my tutorial videos and maybe want to use some of my skills towards a few other projects.

What kind of fun?
Lol.

Well I'll take a gander at it I need some stuff to do.... I might reference that in my Temporal Flux Tutorials if that's okay...

I've been long making my own CT+.... Which adds blackjack and adventurer's tent, random mini dungeons you can do at the fair--as well as NPC quest factions. I do cover that in the tutorial series.

https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=35162.0

Perhaps you can benefit from those... If I take a gander at your hack I might throw a couple of those in!

... Of course I'll let you know what changes I do.
This is a fantastic and fun hobby after all! 🥰

Also...I felt inclined to share this here since it is obscure documents this isn't the Chrono Trigger database but some other stuff that has even more info::

...
It has come to my attention that this needs to be released and documented hopefully a GM can put this on the temporal flux editing page in the compendium or at least sticky this form!

VERY USEFUL:

Temporal Flux Plugin SDK:
https://www.filehosting.org/file/details/10130323/tfpa100.7z

These are needed documents and files for various peoples that would use them for the purposes.
THERE ARE A LOT OF OBSCURE things in these specific documents and files that you're not going to find elsewhere!

Use it! And let's make better plugins and cooler hacks and all that stuff f*** yeah! 👍

...
So yeah use that s***!

Sorry to impatiently ask, but is there any update on the update lol?

What filters/shaders do you guys recommend using? Are the pics in first post using any? (They are nice!)

By the way, congrats on the work, I'm having a lot of fun. I just passed the Magus castle, can't wait to arrive in 1999

My apologies to everyone waiting on the new version, especially Powerpanda and Gi Nattak who did wonderful work on this. I have a new version ready but I really want to release a solid final version, and I just haven't gotten that done. Family life has sorta taken priority.

I personally use the 2xBRZ filter on Snes9x, I love the way it blends the pixels without looking smudgy.

Glad you're enjoying it, you'll have post again after you finish it. I always love to hear what people think about 1999.

So those all work together flawlessly together? Any quirks to be aware of?
