No, the party composition is only relevant during the Giga Gaia fight. Anything prior to that is irrelevant.

If i get some time in the next few days I'll take a look, but my guess is that I didn't remove all members before forcing Crono in.

Hello dev, just wanted to say that you've done EXCELLENT WORK on this beautiful romhack.  On my first CT+ run I was determined to save Zeal, no matter how much grinding/preparation it took.  I got to level 85 and from there, with enough speed tabs to even out my party of Crono(whom I rename "Romeo" of the ODST characters, not the Shakespeare tale), Marle(whom I rename "Elza" after a fellow MMO friend I used to know a long while ago) and Lucca, the latter-most of which I bring so that her IMMENSELY-HELPFUL "Protect" ability greatly mitigates Lavos' "Rain Destruction" and "Needle" attacks.  I managed to get through it and save Zeal, but after concluding the events, it brings me back to the main menu screen with no NG+ option available whilst the beautiful "Corridors of Time" still plays in the background (not that i'm complaining of course, I love it in fact ^-^), could you fix this in the next patch perhaps?  I'm sure you can understand why since i'm certain that i'm not the only one who wanted to save Zeal on their first CT+ run after all. :)

Also, PLEASE tell me that Schala can be saved even on a "Zeal Not Saved" run, it always breaks my heart whenever they can't save her, seriously... T_T   It would be amazing if you could do something that prevents her tragic fate, such as the "Schala Edition"'s way of saving her, or the semi-forgotten "Schala Project"'s way of saving her as shown in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGoS88HzKv0

Regardless, I truly love the attention to detail you've done to VASTLY improve upon CT, I really do. ^^

EDIT: After letting Zeal fall "much to my regret" in order to pregress the normal CT events to unlock NG+, i've noticed that the Magic Tab that's supposed to spawn in the farthest north-eastern corner of the Blackbird's ventilation systems doesn't spawn, i'm guessing it "might" ("might" being the key term, not 100% certain of course) be due to getting Magus earlier than he ususally is available to get, that event flag might prevent the tab from appearing, but again, not 100% certain.
Also, with Magus in the party during the Blackbird's events, no matter what direction you enter the "cell" you start in, it always shows the party exitting from the ventilation systems, another thing I thought i'd report as well, not making this up by the way.  I'm even willing to make a proof video if need be.

ThegreatBen

What exactly is it you want fixed? That NG+ is available after getting the save Zeal ending?

That's hardly worth the effort since you're only expected to do it on NG+ anyway.

This hack is about adding extras, and while it has some creative liberties it never changes the core narrative. For that reason I decided not to expand on Schala beyond my non canon ending.

That being said I was glad to hear your experiences with it and while I don't incorporate every suggestion I do enjoy hearing them, thank you.

I understand, i'm sorry to hear that, but I get it.  Hopefully that can be changed one day, but I won't press it further.  Still, you should fix the erronous specifics mentioned in the "EDIT" section I mentioned regardless, since, again, i'm not making up those things.

To clarify, I didn't use the "pretend to be sick" option to lure the guards in, used the vents to progress the Blackbird's events instead.

ThegreatBen

That's too bad, Magus' sick line is hilarious.

As for the bugs you mentioned the magic tab only appears after you've recovered your items, it has always been that way. The cell on the other hand is a bug and I'll do my best to fix it.

I did retrieve all three party member's equipment, along with the items and money, still didn't appear, I already know that it only appears once all the stuff has been reacquired after being imprisoned on the Blackbird.

Also, I have another bug to report.  I use the bucket to get to Lavos (I followed your "condensed guide", running before going after Lavos after defeating Queen Zeal on the Black Omen, but after I concluded the "before Apocalypse 1999" events, after defeating Lavos via the bucket, I strangely get the "Save Zeal" ending and don't proceed inside of Lavos' outer shell.

As such, I had no choice but to crash the Epoch into Lavos via the "warp to 1999 Day of Lavos" option, even though I usually NEVER do that, but again, the bucket option to Lavos had the aforementioned bug, thus my sole remaining option for unlocking a vanilla Good Ending to unlock the NG+ option was to use the "Crash Epoch" method.  I hope this gets fixed soon.

ThegreatBen

That is really odd! The save Zeal ending is triggered by the Frozen Flame item, and only the Ocean Palace Lavos should drop it.

:-\ I'll add it to my list.

HelljmprRookie

Really?  I had no idea that's what the item was for.  When I decided to "allow" Lavos to win at his Ocean Palace encounter, I wanted to see if I could get any "consolation prize" by having Ayla(whom I rename as "Cecil", again in lieu of a past MMO partner) try to steal something from Ocean Palace Lavos.  I managed to steal the "Frozen Flame" from Ocean Palace Lavos, so I was like "Hell yeah", but I had no idea it triggers the "Save Zeal" ending when not using the "Crash Epoch into Lavos" method, strange...

ThegreatBen

Oh good, that should be a much easier fix.

I also noticed that several other items don't transfer over to NG+ for some reason. And before you say it, yes, I am well aware of things like the upgraded Masamune not carryable to a new NG+ run, but a few non-Key Item-based inventory items also didn't carry over either, such as Crono's Rainbow sword, which is usually carried over into NG+, is that normal for CT+?  I'm just wanting to make sure is all since, as stated above, Crono's Rainbow, along with a few other inventory items, are missing from my inventory upon loading the save before doing the "Crash Epoch into Lavos" method I was forced to use in order to get into Lavos' shell to confront the real inner-Lavos enemies, this was before I knew that the "FroznFlame" items triggers the "Save Zeal" ending when using the bucket at the End of Time to confront Lavos.

ThegreatBen

In CT+ none of the ultimate weapons carry over so that there is a point to doing the quests again on new game+ as I consider them part of the story.

Ah, I see.  I had no idea, so thanks a lot for clearing up that small tidbit of confusion. :>

I agree and mentioned something similar to that effect about two or three years ago in this thread as well. It indeed would've been nice if there could've been a way to either save or even possibly recruit Schala in this hack. But of course, I respect the creators' opinions and have no desire to pressure them into changing anything against their wishes. Perhaps someday in the future we'll be able to see a project that combines elements of Chrono Trigger Plus with the Schala Edition. And maybe even a playable human Glenn character as well.

Anyway, I also wanted to say that I greatly enjoyed playing this hack and look forward to any potential new versions of it.
Thanks for all the hard work that was put into this!

What a great brainstorm that was. It was where the idea for the save Zeal ending came from.

This is for the Great Ben!  You will have to forgive me, but how long as this hack been out?  I downloaded and orginally played a chrono trigger plus more than likley 2-2.5 years ago.  Is this the same game?  Back then I believe the collesseum had been added, as well as chronos mothers room as well as the original battle theme as you go through a factory.  The game was so awesome to play as a fan.  I even put it on a super nes cart!  If this is the same, has there been a bunch of changes worthy of downloading again?  thanks for answering my noob questions.  I have been away from ROmhacking.net for 2 years or so, so I am getting backinto the swing!

It has changed a ton since then, and probably all for the better as all the changes were either new features or addressing fan complaints.

Most notable is that 1999 is a full time period now that can be traveled with the Epoch, and the part of 1999 that was there before has been completely revamped.

Illuminasty

I remember reporting an issue where Crono straight up disappeared from the party with no way to bring him back that I could think of but that was quite a long time ago now, did you ever figure out what that was?

E Z P Z

The Great Ben,
I do recall being able to do somethings in 1999, but I can't recall the extent of it.  I will have to download the newest version!  I still have the older one on an SNES cart, but may have to make a new cart and call it chrono trigger plus plus.  I do recall never being able to fight johnny in the old one.  I love that you added the original (or alternate) battle theme.  I never even knew this existed until I played Final Fantasy Return of the Dark Sorcerer.  Epic little tune.  Do you have any other hacked games you have done?
