Yeah, the front page says the patch was taken down but if you go to Xak's project page you can still download the patch. Not sure what they needed to adjust but the patch worked fine for me.

Seems a few bugs were found after release.

There is also a v1.05 patch which fixes everything except the "walk through walls" glitch.

Oh hell yes! I always wanted to play the Xak Series, but there had been so little translation for it.

I tried the patch today "xak 105" on sd2snes, as soon as I reached level 4. and rescue the wounded girl

These rooms exist!
There is a room of the gallery of the characters in Normana and the room to listen to musics of game in Fearless.

Just finished the game with patch 1.00, no problems detected
Didn't expect; a dragon spirit mini stage near the end!
also the last boss was lame as ^*() one hit KO, at max level.
forgot to mention, that if you bump in to enemies you can kill them ala Y's, and that you can carry more than 10 items, by opening treasure chest.
About those secret rooms, I remember two houses, one that says the owner moved from town and the other was empty.
Are those the secret rooms? and how to enter them? really tried everything I could, and don't want to start from scratch again, without knowing how to do it!
so any help would be great!
