wait did momoko suicide!
I read the letters,by the 4Th one I was annoying and stop reading.
I was under the impression that she just left the house and go to another town near the ocean.
I stop reading because she was so annoying with the letters, but I didn't want her to die  :'(
In my next playthrough I'm going to marry momoko and miho last, just before I finish the game, for the special king ending.

the last subaru egg
4.-Gokuraku Butterfly (Wonder-fly ingame) purchase the big egg from the shop and then feed the larva with heart kibble, body kibble, mystery kibble and head kibble,in THAT order. Then let it hatch from 40 hours to 49 hs 59 mins.A Wonder-fly does 500 of piercing damage to all enemies, ignoring defenses.Definitely a must-have!

Is there any other prize in Akamaru shooting other than a teddy shield for 500 points?
the other shooting game is never going to be open? or needs a special date to open?

today is 7 July, the star festival is on the canine nation, and was able to get the  water of life and some other one time items
great game hope to see more of the series!

I will confirm the drop rate does stack, but I'm not 100% sure on the math. Based on the King's Bracelet farming I did, I imagine it continues to multiply the rate by x1.2 for every hit/kill. So, for example, if the base drop rate was 5%, and you landed 5 hits/kills with Subaru, the drop rate calc would look something like this:

(((((0.05*1.2)*1.2)*1.2)*1.2)*1.2) = ~12.4%

Tenjin's mirror skill that replicates a weaker copy of an enemy will allow you to exploit this pretty brutally by replicating infinite copies of the enemy you want a drop from (IIRC the ones that drops the King's Bracelet and some stat boosters--all of which disappear after various plot points--are the only ones worth doing this for). When replicating AND using Subaru's drop weapon, you get increased drop rates AND a huge increase in drop opportunities (since each kill will be a chance for a drop, as usual).

That's great to know, how about if you equip Subaru with 4 rings, does the effect stack?

I found this on the Japanese site for momoko, but can't understand what google translate says

There is no other shooting game, only the snake game.

For the water of life, you're also able to go back into the cave after saving Tenjin and the others to get another serving.

Here's a message from DDSTrans:

"I wonder if the person is using a savestate from an earlier version and loaded it in the middle of moved text. In any case, I'd need a save file or instructions on how to reproduce it."

In other words, loading a save state in the middle of a text window often causes glitchiness.

Can you turn the power on and load your file normally from the game's menu (without using save states), then go to the news center in the Canine Nation and read the Dog #6 to see if it works?

I'm not using save states, However I'm sure is and old patch
It reads like this
First Page
"The Ma-Djinn versus Money-King the Third"

The gong of destiny resounded far and wide!
Second Page
The Money-King lashed out with a rapid series
of combos against the Ma-Djinn!
it looked like the Money-King had this match!
Third Page
won from the start...But wait!

Just as it seemed the Ma-Djinn would be down
Fourth Page

the Ma-Djinn came out of nowhere!
The punch landed cleanly on the Money-King!

Hi, I'd like to inform about a curious "bug" that happened to me today with this game. I think it's more related to the emulator used (snes9x 1.55) than to the game itself.

I'm not a native English speaker and I'm going to explain something a little convoluted, so I hope I am able to make myself clear: today, in my game, it's 7 of August of 2018 (when I played it I configured the clock about a month in advance of the real date for a specific reason, but I can't remember exactly what it was) and I was about to watch one of the game's festivities called "second Tanabata" or something like this. I was about to visit the temple when suddenly the electrical current in my house got a micro-cut, resetting my computer. After rebooting, I opened the emulator again and the date of the game had advanced to the next day (8th of August of 2018).

So now I can't watch that festivity. Was it exactly the same as in July the 7th (which I've already seen), or there were differences? If it's the same, I won't mind, but if there were differences, is there any way to hack the rtc file to turn it again to August the 7th?  (I have rudimentary knowledge of binary file editing via hex editors such as XVI32, in case it helps).

TL;DR I was playing TMZero on PC using snes9x 1.55. The lights went out, resetting my pc, and the game's RTC got crazy and advanced a full day. Is there any way to fix the RTC and go back to the former date?

Thanks.

John Enigma

Hey @Tom.

Do you think this translation can be ported to the other version of this game, Tengai Makyō Zero: Shōnen Jump no Shou?

Tom

aqualung:

I'm not sure if the two Star Festivals are the same. I can't remember. The issue with your clock sounds like a computer/emulator problem.  I wouldn't worry about it too much! It couldn't be THAT different.

John:

I'm sure most of the script carries over easily, but there are some new parts. Unfortunately, the graphics are different, so everything would have to be done from scratch by DougRPG, and FlashPV would have to do the new graphics that were added as well.

Basically, the entire game would have to be redone, for only small differences, and the additions come at a cost: the cloning facility in Flower Circle Village gets entirely removed, which is a pretty big storyline element to remove.

I think it would be better if I just played through that version with an emulator and translated those extra bits in-video.

Maybe one day.

I have a question from a early game event, that I don't seen to find the answer anywhere:

Spoiler
Spring of Temptation
What does each of the items do?
Is there a way to obtain all of them?
I tried Burning moon first, but without knowing what the others can do, I've just reseted.

every hour around 45 minutes you can see your spring wife, and once a day you receive and item.
also you can't have the 3 items, once you select one spring wife, you stick with her for the rest of the game!
the items, are fire, water and wind elements spells.

if you have lakka + raspi3+retro tink hat
you can use my code to have the three: (Item offset,Item type, quantity)
Spoiler

cheat25_desc = "3 Goddess Items Replace 1-3"
cheat25_code = "7E352C3C+7E352D3D+7E352E3E+7E372C02+7E372D02+7E372E02+7E392C63+7E392D63+7E392E63"
[close]
remove your first three items(leave the space blank), use the code, save your game and reset, turn off the codes and the items become usable.
I'm going to post all my codes on gamefaqs as soon, as I finish the game a second time, I have a monster selector code, and all item code

Momoko's fate highlights some of the inherent problems with doing a PLGS style system.

Having to commit yourself to topping up timers seems like an immersive use of a real-time system while you're playing the game, but eventually you're going to be done with it. Every single player who marries her in their play-through and then doesn't log in every few days for the rest of their life is technically culpable for what happens to her after - myself included! And if you think I feel guilty about that, never ask me about my Animal Crossing village...

Maybe it was trying to teach kids about taking responsibility for their relationships or something! Though that seems at odds with the mention of a secret ending if you marry every girl. Can anyone confirm if that really exists?

In less morbid news, I noticed that Nichegamer have a belated report on the translation project's completion: http://nichegamer.com/2018/07/15/massive-snes-jrpg-far-east-of-eden-zero-is-finally-translated/

Fair play to the guy for owning up to the fact that he only just got around to playing it. Better late than never I guess!

Tom

"Momoko's fate highlights some of the inherent problems with doing a PLGS style system."

I don't think it was a problem, as if it should be corrected. I think it was intentional, and a high point - that your action (or inaction) can have profound consequences. It was a shocking moment, showing the raw emotion that can come with a relationship. Plus, it's not eternally damning her if you screw up or stop playing. You can still experience the relationship all over again with a Restart Plus, if you wish.

There is no "secret ending where you marry everyone," by the way. It is just that everybody you're in a relationship with will make an appearance during one of the game's two endings.

As for the Nichegamer article, I'm glad that he found out about it. I just wish that he had read any of my comments in the readme or this website stating the difference between Far East of Eden and Tengai Makyou. I was hoping to really drive it home to people with each Tengai series translation I've done, but it seems to have fallen upon deaf ears!

RetroGaijin

I think you're right, Tom, and I should have worded it better. It's not a problem in the sense that it needs fixing. it's more that, if you're like me, it's impossible not to think of the timer as still running even when the game is over, with the inevitable consequences to the game state that are baked into the code.

Hence when I think of my old Animal Crossing village, I don't picture it as I left it when I was finally done with the game, but as the weed-infested dystopia it would be if I were to boot it up today. The same with Momoko and my final TMZ save. Like you say, it's not so much a flaw as a quirk of the real time system, and a pretty mild trade-off when you consider the novel features implementing such a system makes possible.

Oh dear, I hadn't noticed that he referred to it as Far East of Eden Zero! Unfortunately it seems that the world just doesn't respect the difference in this case.

Tom

There is a work-around, if it concerns you that much. The letters have to be -sent- to you in order for them to be counted. She only sends one letter at a time.

If you've been gone for a very long time, the letters will arrive in rapid succession (but still only one at a time). Every time you leave a room or map area, you'll hear that "boooong" sound and one letter will arrive.

If you talk to her before an extended absence, and save in her town, you will get one upon entering the game, one upon leaving the inn and then you can go into her house.

That way, when you return, you can go straight to Momoko, and she'll still be okay. It's only if you forget about her and go somewhere else that the letters will be sent, and her fate will be sealed.

What's a King's Bracelet and what enemies I need to farm to get one?
I couldn't find the answer for it anywhere =P

I'm currently at beginning of fifth nation, after losing my progress mid third nation because of a dirty snes slot.

Tom

King's Bracelet is an accessory that absorbs elemental attacks at a 1/5 rate.

It's dropped by a monster called the Horned Beast, so keep an eye out for it.

guilhermoadib

Thanks Tom!
I will keep an eye ;)

Any more tips about missable equipment drops?

Also, thank you for all the hard work you put on this project! It's a masterpiece. I'm enjoyng every little bit of it.

guilhermoadib

I've just finished the game, playing on a real snes with a modded cart. I'd like to share my impressions, and thanks you again Tom, for making this happen!

I was able to get to the end of the game on a 1chip snes without glitches, and I explored nearly anything available, remaining to be seen just some of the PLGS shrine events, which I plan to visit across the next year. The only glitches I've seen was some minor text corruption that disappeared in half a second, at the end of some battles, mainly in third country, or when sorting inventory. It did happen constantly when I was at certain point in the game, but latter it stopped happen and I never saw it again. It seemed it had something to do with the number of items I had. I don't know if it happens on a emulator, or if it happens in the real cart, without the patch. I have the cart unmodded too, but I've stopped playing on the second country, and I'm not pretty sure which version of the patch I have (I presume its version 6.0, by what the seller said).

Said that, I really enjoyed playing it all along. IMHO it's not a masterpiece, but it's a great game!

The translation fitted it really well. The jokes, the quotes, you all did a hell of a job making it all fells right, even for people who are not really aware of Japanese culture.

The game sometimes feels like it was rushed to market. There are some places that sens underused and unfinished, like the "maze" before dragon country castle. I think the PLGS was not used to it's fullness too. For example: they could have implemented a color pallet change to make map and places darker at night times, or used the RTC to determine what enemies would appear, at which rate, and so on. Maybe some skills could have been boosted/nerfed at certain times too.

The same applies to the shrine events, the ones I've visited are nearly identical and don't add much to the game. Infact, the only thing I remember being useful was getting the mortar armor. I know they couldn't be game breakers, because not everyone will play the game for a full year just to be able to see everything, but I feel they could have been more.

The visuals are great, and it's really incredible the amount of one time used elements present. Like, most places are completely different from everything else in the game. There were many things I've minded: wow, they used this bunch of tiles only for that!? The same happens with the enemies. There are just tons of completely different monsters.

The role is a good one, and I couldn't add much to it to what I've already read on this thread.

Summing all things up, It was a great experience, and I'm thankfull for being able to live that, but I guess it doesn't lived up to the hype I've put on it.

mougrim

Thank you for such a good work. Playing it right now on my RG350, and this game is marvelous. Not too long, beautiful visually and translation is unsurpassed.

Now I want to play other games of this series even more. Sigh.

Thank you again, and if you someday undertake a Ziria or Manjimaru translation, I will donate.

Tom

I hope you continue to enjoy it until the end.

I'd like to work on Ziria / Manjimaru with EsperKnight once we're finished with Devil Children: Flame Book and Ice Book. I also have to finish Zill O'll with Mugi.

And while I appreciate the offer, please keep your money. I can't accept any donations.

That I will :) I am up to Dragon Nation, so end is near... And then I'll have an Ao no Tengai to play.

Oh, this spin-off of Megami Tensei is much praised. Good luck with it, and also with Zill O'll. And I hope that you both will have a time and will for Ziria and Manjimaru in the future.

I see :) Well, than thank you again, and keep the good work. You helped this gem to shine again in English-speaking community.
