That's a common misconception - that hackers are doing some sort of (paid) community work.

It's (usually) not true - hackers do what they do - for themselves AND then they have an OPTION to share their work with others. If they chose not to, you can feel disappointed if you want to - but you'd be fooling yourself if you ever felt entitled to a release (of any kind).

By that logic game companies should release protos for every cancelled game if they dared publish screenshots.

Also, it seems Jonesy logged in early last month. So the hack might not be dead yet.

I know its been a little while since this topic has been bumped but is it possible jonesy to get access to the hack so someone else can at least try to pick it up and see what they can do with it? Figured there's no harm in at least asking.

I think we should lock this thread until the hack author comes back (if he ever comes back) because this thread seems to serve no purpose anymore other than to get bumped every couple of months so people can ask "is this done?" or something along those lines.

Midna, just for the record, i did not ask if it was done. I was simply asking if the hack could be released to someone else so they might could finish it or pick up where they left off so it does not fall off into the depths. Excuse me for asking a question Ill make sure to keep your thoughts in mind in the future when inquiring about something on here.

If you were asking for a release so that YOU could pick it up and finish it - you would have had my sympathy.

But since you ask for somebody else to do it, once released, you end up only being annoying.

Not yet. If jonesy is willing to share the hack, (I've already asked him for the hack to pick it up and try to take it further) then i will get the editor from snarfblam, and also jonesy has it as well.

If he does not want to share it then that's OK too obviously. Just trying to help a good project continue.

I do not think jonesy is willing to share this hack, but i have reached out to him about it. I wont say anything about it on here, as this is his thread and where it goes from here is obviously totally up to him.
