I think the issue with Last Armageddon is not the size of the script, but with how much room is available for the script. Although my friend tells me the NES version is probably the weakest version released on consoles.

Heh, I was more interested in whether it's something I'd be up for (re)translating or not. :)

Someone released a translation for this before. But he later withdrew it after this translation came out.

Chably uploaded it twice initially I think. There was an earlier patch too, but that one was incomplete.

Wow. That Last Armageddon game sounds interesting. The plot anyway. Also a surprise to see some Virtual Boy translations.

The FM-Towns version seems to be the best looking version out of the releases.

hmmm...last armageddon sounds interesting what with the protagonist(s) being demons and not humans (or worse yet, human children, as the dragon quest franchise loves to use.).

i'm surprised even game devs don't get sick of using human adult/teen/child as the protagonist of pretty much all games in general.

anywho, if those 3 reviews are any indication i think i might just wait a bit longer for that game as i'm not overly fond of engrish. :/

o.O i wonder how many innocent children are sacrificed before finding the heroes of each dragon quest game.

Okay, I seriously have to ask whoever is in charge of this forum why there isn't a dang "Like" option? Cause I'd need it for this post.

I get even more sick of games where the ENTIRE goodguy roster is human as if we're the only creature that can be good. It's one of the reasons I had no interest in games like Project X Zone.

It's odd you single out Dragon Quest considering that the main characters of those are generally late teens to full adults. 1 - Adult, 2 Late Teens, 3 One Seventeen year old and 3 adults, 4 - 3 Teenager (Hero/Princess Alena/Kiryl), 2 Young Adults (Maya and Meena), 3 Middle-aged/Old men - (Taloon, Ragnar, Borya), 5 You start the game as a child but grow up during the course of it, 6 Mostly late teens to adults., 7 Mostly teens, save one old man. 8 Late teens to adults, 9 An Angel.

So you see... that mention of "Children" only applies to one game in the series and in that game you aren't even a Child for long.

What about the Dragon Quest Monster franchise? I don't know for sure about 1, GBA, Joker, Joker 2, Joker 2 Pro or Joker 3, but in both of the DQM 2 games, your character is definitely a kid.

That someone might not have reviewed this translation and quickly dismissed his own just because its unfinished; its not like the whole game's texts are generally compressed.

Those are spinoffs, but sure. Cobi/Tara and most of those fellows are children, so is Terry as his game takes place when Milly and he were children (which makes you wonder if it may have been better for Terry to have just lived in the Kingdom of GreatTree with his sister instead of returning home since they both are enslaved later on anyhow.) Oddly enough the same can be said for FF that a lot of the spinoff games star children or young teenagers.

The FM-Towns version seems to be the best looking version out of the releases.

Towns and X68000 have nice high-resolution graphics, but I remember reading somewhere that the computer versions are much more difficult compared to the console ports. I think this was related to stone tablets or something like that which you need to find in the game.

Last Armageddon Dialogue
Here is a quick grab of the game's dialogue.

Here is the part I helped with but should be useful in seeing how the game dialogue is set up.

One can probably assume that there's between 30-40 KB of dialogue here at the most. I'm not sure if there are any 'towns' as such in this game, the dialogue bits probably pertain to some other stuff, like the columns you need to find etc.
