Awesome! can't wait to finally be able to play the game in english

It's been a hell of a time since I first discovered the game, and I'm sorry I dropped my version so early on,
would have been nice if I could have helped out along the way.

halumi

I'm so excited! Wish I could have been a bigger help. If you still need someone to test after all of the text is in, I'd be happy to.

superWiiFantatic

Yessss.  After a long road we're almost finished!  I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical this would finish at first but you pulled through and did a fantastic job.

I can't wait to play the full thing translated.  Thank you so much for all your work!

Valkyrie

We're already there?! What?!

This feels tad unreal. I really can't wait for this! Immense kudos for all the hard work!

Great work MarkAss - made an account here just to say how thankful I am for your (+kiramekis) efforts
I'm now off my wiiu and back on my wii!

LovedelicLife

Hi Markass,

I also registered to come say Hi and Thank You.

I run the blog "Lovedelic Life" https://lovedelicgames.wordpress.com/ and its Twitter account - https://twitter.com/LovedelicLife and while I haven't been able to keep them updated as mush as I'd like, I've been looking forward to this translation for a very long time!

I'm very keen to try out the patch as soon as possible, but I had one questions first...

- When Kirameki first started work on this it was intended that the patch could be loaded onto an SD card and then used with a legit copy of the game on an unmodified Wii. Is that the case now or is it likely to be in the future? Or will we need to use an emulator or hacked Wii to play?

Keep up the great work!

Ash

mutaharu

Great work!!
I was one of the original editors for the project back when Kirameki was still working on the translation. I'm happy to hear it's come this far!!

I tried downloading the .rar, though, and I'm having trouble extracting it. 7Zip says it cannot open it as an archive. Any ideas?

Thanks!

enigmaxtreme

Great to finally be able to play this! Spent my afternoon making an appropriate cover for it, let me know what you think !

Thank you all for your support, it really gives this first time rom hacker the motivation to keep pushing forward.

To answer some questions;

LovedelicLife - I do not have the knowledge to create a Riivolution patch, sorry. My patch will modify an ISO to play on a modded Wii with backup loader, or Dolphin emulator.
You still need a modded Wii to use Riivolution anyway, and with programs like patchimage, the requirment for origonal disk doesn't apply anymore, so I didn't waste much time with it.

Someone else had an issue with rar file. So I may have to add zip to my drive as well, but this link worked for him.

enigmaxtreme - That looks freaking sweet! You have a very artistic talent! This would look sweet as a usb loader cover!

Will post update soon when new translation is finished.

Thanks again for all the comments, you humble this newbie with your support!

I can help make a Riivolution patch! I made one with the test translation that you provided. All it takes is a simple XML file telling Riivolution where to look for the files.

MarkAss, is there a way you could post about how you went about editing and injecting the .bin files for the script? I would love to continue my editing efforts; reading through some of Hikari's dialogue, you can tell where my edits stopped and the original translation began, haha! I definitely think it would take a long long while, so maybe it'd be best to release the translation as-is when it's ready, and I'll just edit on my free time and then make a release with the edited script.

Well, that's a relief! I was under the (apparently mistaken) impression that a Riivolution patch was going to be available the entire time. I own a retail copy of the game, but my computer really struggles to run Dolphin.

Thank you so much! If it's really that simple, if you don't end up making one, I absolutely will.

MarkAss

You should all own a retail version of the game.
I do not condone pirated material.
Can't Riivolution load an alternate file from SD card?
You could patch ISO with the patch, put patched files on SD card with xml to point to new files for Riivolution.
I could edit the output of ISO builder to put files in appropriate folders for Riivolution.

halumi

That's right, and it sounds as though mutaharu has already created the XML file.

SleepyFist

I picked mine up back when I was poking at the translation myself, my first import too.

That is really cool. Thanks for the link.

Been kinda busy this week, but I have more that half of the new translation inserted, (less than 500 lines remaining), which I have to manually input because they appear to not have tables or pointers like the rest of the game.

Kinda looks like any idea for side dialogue was thrown in globals.bin after main game was finished. It's kinda all over the place.

miii

That's great news -- thanks for sticking with this through to full translation.
Really enjoying the October 30th patch, but  struggling with the famicom soldiers mini games :)

komadelic

First of all, thanks a lot to MarkAss for this patch, I can't believe we can finally play Captain Rainbow in english after all these years!

Unfortunately I have the same problem with the .rar file, I can't open it. The link to the .zip file doesn't work anymore. Could be possible to also add the .zip to the Google Drive directory?

I'd also love to see a Riivolution patch, i own a legit copy of the game and it would be awesome to just put it into the Wii and play it without having to create a ISO. In any case, the important thing is that a patch is out, it's already great!

superWiiFantatic

Happy holidays MarkAss.  Thank you again for all your hard work on this patch.  I'm very excited to play Captain Rainbow in english in its full glory!

Zelma

Just wanted to say, thank you MarkAss for this amazing patch, wanted to play this since I first saw on nintendo.jp's website which was 10 years ago now wow. I appreciate the time you put in this.

Unfotunately running into some trouble as far as actually patching the ISO goes. When it says drop the ISO in the folder then hit patch I do that; but then it gives me some weird tmp file and one time it gave me a CPN Rainbow ISO USA and JPN(both untranslated). If it isn't too much trouble would you or someone be able to properly tell me how to patch this? Using Dolphin on comp btw, not homebrew on wii or wii u.
