The BIG list of randomizers is now officially on my blog.

The new URL is:
https://www.debigare.com/randomizers/

Why? Because it became too long to fit in this post!

I also created an official Discord Community server for it:
https://discord.com/invite/YREMzGQ3gd

Thank you so much for everyone's support, and keep posting those randomizers! I will continue to post in this thread regularly with all new changes.

Mattrizzle

Here's one more I know about:

SmashManiac

I added the Super Mario World randomizer to the list. Thanks for sharing Mattrizzle! It looks pretty sweet!

The Doom one (OBLIGE) was already on the list.

SmashManiac

Updated first post with two Mega Man randomizers I just found.

SmashManiac

Just stumbled on a Zelda II: The Adventure of Link randomizer! It's now on the list!

Actually mzxrules, your OoT randomizer is what partially motivated me to create this list, since I felt it was a shame that it was lost on an old random forum thread. ;)

MathUser2929

The ones that are mostly complete should be hosted here. Someone should work on that.

I do the Twitter thing now: https://twitter.com/MistressSaeko (expect lots of game streaming announcements)
Mistress of the RHDN Discord server.

Actually, this thread pre-dates that wiki by a few days, so I'm the original. 8)

That said, thanks for sharing it! I'm going to contact its administrator so we can combine our efforts.

In the meantime, I'm adding in this list randomizers listed on it that I've been missing:
- Dragon Quest 4
- EarthBound
- Final Fantasy
- Final Fantasy III
- Final Fantasy V (abyssonym)
- Mega Man Battle Network 3
- Mega Man X
- Metroid Prime
- Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
- Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
- NES Open Tournament Golf
- Pokémon Red (Sanqui)
- Pokémon Trading Card Game
- Shining Force II
- Super Mario RPG
- Telefang Power Version

PresidentLeever

Nice!

Is there a version of Shining Force II scrambler that doesn't change the palettes and music?

Here's one for Guardian Legend: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1145/
Mini-reviews, retro sound chip tribute, romhacks and general listage at my site: Mini-Revver.

SmashManiac

Thanks a lot PresidentLeever! I'm adding The Guardian Legend to the list! :) However, it seems that the RHDN page is hosting a really old version, so I'm going to link to the latest version even though it's behind a registration wall. As MathUser2929 pointed out, it would be great if someone took the time to add all these randomizers to RHDN, and I don't have the time to do so myself.

Questions or suggestions about specific randomizers should be redirected to the original authors. I'm just compiling them.

Hey SmashManiac,

I actually made this list back in January/February and have been updating it since then:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rXgXxS1W9AaEhhpxfGjNyLuxC_P7Xa3LBr9jluWUlR0/edit#gid=0

A couple of people that I talk to frequently about randomizers decided to make that wiki page based on this list so that it could incorporate all of the advantages that a webpage/wiki has.  I found your thread here at the same time and have been meaning to post here to try to consolidate efforts, but I'm busy/lazy, and the number of new entries and a few decisions to be made daunt me a bit.  Anyway, I plan on just updating my list based on the new things you have listed here, and then I'll let them know that the wiki needs updating.  (I did try to point them in this direction before, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.  Oh well.)

If any of you are on the speedrunslive IRC, you can also come to #random for discussion.

I appreciate your efforts and all of the new things you found.

Edit:  I could have sworn you had other Mega Man games listed before, like maybe a Mega Man 2 randomizer by someone other than Duckfist.  Maybe I'm just imagining things.  Anyway, I have my list mostly updated now.  I'm sure the wiki will be updated shortly in kind.

Edit 2:  I thought the wiki was missing some things, but it looks like the lists are in agreement now.  Perhaps it was just all recently added, but I thought I remembered seeing more things here previously that I don't see now.  Again, I'm probably misremembering.

Jeville

Great list. It renewed my interest in A Link to the Past.

SmashManiac

Thanks Jeville! I'm a big fan of the A Link to the Past randomizer as well!

Thanks a lot! Your efforts are also very appreciated!

I usually don't hang out on IRC, but I might drop in that channel in the near future to see how things look like there. ;)

Good catch! I erroneously deleted the Endless hacks for Mega Man 2-3-4-5. I'm putting them back now!

I'm still seeing a few things that I can't find on the wiki, like Final Fantasy V Ancient Cave, and Sanqui's Pokémon TCG and Telefang Power randomizers. There might be more.

Bahamut ZERO

This list is freakin' amazing. I didn't know most of the games on this list even had randomizers, so thanks for compiling it Smashmaniac!

I've been playing around with the OoT Randomizer a bit on PJ64. Currently trying to get the Wii version installed on my softmodded Wii, but so far Wad Manager just gives me error messages. Hopefully I can get 'er working so I can play this beast with a Classic Controller!
Like Super Mario Land? Then you'll love my first completed Rom Hack: Maniac on the Run!

SmashManiac

Adding a few more games:
- Sven Co-op (corruptor)
- Half-Life 2 (corruptor)
- Team Fortress 2
- Yoshi's Island (corruptor)

About the "corruptor" note: After some thought, I came to the conclusion that it didn't make much sense to exclude assets-only randomizers and game-specific corruptors from the list, as long as they're mostly stable and clearly identified.

However, I'm not sure where to draw the line for non-game-specific corruptors with randomization. On one extreme there's the Real-Time Corruptor which only works for specific video game consoles. On the other extreme there corruptors that works on any kind of file and don't contain video game-specific features like Erosion. And then there's the middle ground like the ROM Corruptor 5.999. In all cases, crashes are almost guaranteed, and the results are not much different from non-game-specific corruptors without randomization like NoChaos and the Vinesauce ROM Corruptor. For now I'm considering excluding them altogether due to the low-level of randomness, but I'd like to have people's opinions on the matter.

By the way, thanks Bahamut ZERO for your kind words! :) I suggest you pair your Wii Remote to your PC via Bluetooth if you still have issues with your Wii; that's what I do to play retro games myself.

jkoper

I think I'll leave the corruptors off my list for now.  I don't know exactly what they do, but the fact that they frequently lead to crashes and probably other unplayable results makes them feel not worth advertising in the same medium.  I will add Team Fortress 2 and the Mega Man games to my list.  I also remembered one more that I just added that you don't have.  There's a newly created item randomizer for Ocarina of Time; it looks like it probably has a lot of work to go yet.  Link here:  https://www.speedrun.com/oot/thread/6w905/1#6sccj

Googie

SmashManiac: Thanks for makin' this list, so far I used the Dragon Warrior randomizer, the Mike Tyson's Punch Out randomizer and the Zelda 2 randomizer, when I move back to New York, I plan to play through the hacks just to make sure everything is workin' right. :D
