Metroid Prime: Federation Force just got out today and the reviewers and fans alike are divided between "Good game" and "This game sucks".
I would like to know your opinion of the game.

It looks like shit, and I'm not buying it. Thanks, Nintendo. :banghead:

Game looks like a bunch of LEGO Bionicles gang raped Samus and the playable characters are the result of that unfortunate event.  :P

I'd rather throw a dart at a board of randomly picked names of Metroid/Super Metroid hacks and pretend that's the new Metroid game instead.

Sorry Nintendo, I'm not touching this crappy game with a 10 foot pole. Thanks for ruining another great franchise.

AM2R is the real 30th anniversary Metroid game.

Not Metroid and there's no Samus. Way to fuck up the brand even more than Other M did. GG Nintentrolls.

Wow  :o, I guess the hate from this game steadily grew since the anouncement.
Considering this game came from Next Level Games, the same studio that developed the Mario Strikers series, Punch-Out!! for the Wii, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.....

So Metroid Fusion?
Aside from the linear, objective-based structure, what's so non-Metroidy about Fusion?

Honestly, if it wasn't for Other M the game wouldn't be nearly as hated pre-release as it is.

Time will tell how it's overall received, though. Time will tell.

It seems to be based off of prime hunters, which felt more "fps" than typical metroid games. but wow, this game is really being hated on by the fans of the franchise.

I haven't played it, like seemingly everyone else in this thread, so I won't comment on it, unlike seemingly everyone else in this thread.

Does anyone who's actually *played* it care to offer their opinion?

You think you're better than me because you don't mock things you haven't tried...?!

...(Looks it up)

Hm, you are better than me because you don't mock things you haven't tried! Says right here, Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham, p.1-18.

I still say that this is a faulty concept. Perhaps it could be a fun game, and I wouldn't even know it, because the very concept of it is kind of tryhardish to me.

"Let's repackage the Metroid franchise as a multiplayer shooter because there aren't millions of those already."

...That just sounds boneheaded to me. I am irritated, as a Metroid fan.

If someone manages to hack the game to modify the character models to look decent and with proper body proportions, I might give the game a try.

I don't like having stupid bubblehead dolls in my Metroid.

No one will try this since no one wants to play a multiplayer only shooter on the 3DS in the first place, Metroid or not. That it's using the Metroid franchise is just what pushes it from being ignorable to somewhat insulting.

Because the problem here is, this will sell like crap and then it'll be another nail in the franchise's coffin. "Metroid doesn't sell, look at Federation Force!". Yeah thanks a bunch...

Part of all this saw me see https://www.change.org/p/nintendo-petition-for-cancelation-of-metroid-prime-federation-force
I found the concept hilarious and furthered ideas of gamers saying what they want and making decisions is inmates running the asylum levels of silly, though for want of a better term the high water mark still has to be the phrase fan rights that was uttered in relation to Mass Effect 3.

On "Metroid doesn't sell, look at Federation Force!" then any company using such limited metrics for a product like this deserves to fail really. The metroid name alone might not sell but I don't especially view that as a bad thing. Granted I came in on Prime (had to do something with the gamecube), have not done the sequels and have otherwise only faffed around with the GBA entries and some hacks thereof, and only really knew of the character because of Smash Brothers 64.

The demo was terrible and forced me to wait around for something like 10 minutes to get into a match.

I'll just replay Metroid Prime again and forget this was released.

Hey guys! I just saw that Next-Level Games released Version 1.1 of the game on Nintendo Life.
These are the details of the patch:
  • Fixed an issue that caused errors to occur when beginning Online Play in Blast Ball.
  • Added a count-down timer to the team selection screen in the Online Play mode of Blast Ball.
  • During matches in the Online Play mode of Blast Ball, players will be disconnected if they fail to make any inputs for
    a set amount of time.
  • Other adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.
What do you think about the patch?, it seems that the hate of the game is cooling down.
