This thread is for the English translation project of Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love (a.k.a. Tingle RPG 2), a Nintendo DS game released in Japan in 2009.
This game is a spin-off of the Legend of Zelda series and is somewhat obscure because it was only released in Japan. Its prequel Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland was released in Europe in five languages, including English. However, this game was skipped over for a localization, and has remained a mystery to many people  :)
Tingle RPG 2 is a point and click adventure game, while paying tribute to several genres such as classic dungeon crawlers, JRPGs, and even dating sims. If you've never tried this whacky but fun game, I'd highly recommend it!

Woa what the...
That's a lot for a first teaser. xD

Even though I couldn't care less about the Tingle games, it's always nice to have a japan exclusive title being translated.
I for sure will be looking forward to see how this project progresses. :)

Good luck!

Thanks! And yeah, the project has been going on for a few years, I just figured I'd share it here finally  :)

Ah that explains it. :P
Well, here's all the best wishes so that you guys can finish the game 100%!

Thanks for working to translate this all but forgotten Legend of Zelda spinoff! Looks cool!

Ziko

This is impressive! This'll be another Zelda game I'll revisit when this is through. You've done a lot in a short amount of time.

Thanks everyone!

Heh, we've actually been working on this for a few years, this is just the first time I posted it on RHDN :D

Was this the Japanese Club Nintendo-exclusive game, or was that something else?

No, that was this -

We're translating this one :)

However, now that you mention it, Tingle's Balloon Fight DS is next on my list after this project is completed  ;)

joesteve1914

There's been a new blog update! We have finished one of the largest categories of graphics in the game, and more progress has been made on the script  :)
Link is in the first post or in my signature.

Thanks for translating this!
I enjoyed a lot the first Tingle DS. In fact, I liked it even more than the Zelda DS games. It was the funniest and oddest RPG for DS along with Mother 3. I hope this game lives to the legacy of the first game (or improves it!). Looking forward the translation.

IMO it's a huge improvement over the first Tingle game  :)

Whoa! Great then :)
Yup, it's actually a completely different game really. It's controlled almost exclusively by the touch screen instead of the dpad. Also earning rupees is actually fun and easy in this one :)

Poppler

To be fair, I never found particularly frustrating or really boring picking rupees in the first game. A lot of people had strong problems with that and abandoned the game. I thought the concept was so fresh and the humor so fun (also the 2D graphics are amazing) that it helped to ease the rough spots in the game. As I said, I found much more frustrating and boring the DS Zeldas  :-\
Nonetheless, I'm glad if this game is even more polished than the first. Can't wait!

joesteve1914

I've updated the OP with some new screenshots that show of some new progress on both the script and graphical sides of the translation. I've also updated the percentage completed a little, but bear in mind I'm being really conservative with that. it might even be more  ;)

Small update -

I'm excited and proud to announce that the first draft of the translated script is nearly complete! This is thanks to the hard work and amazing dedication of our translator, waldrumpus, in these last few months. This means that we're going to begin the editing process very soon, and an initial patch release should follow after that! Our plan to have a patch out by the end of 2017 is still valid, but I'm afraid that's all I can offer in terms of a planned release date :D

Anyways, we could also use some additional help with graphics. I'll just direct you here if you're interested -

It's controlled almost exclusively by the touch screen instead of the dpad.

That's a bummer =(

Could d-pad controls be hacked back in? I played Phantom Hourglass with an AR code that did it, but it really was very hacky. It just put the fairy at the very edge of the screen, so movement wasn't quite as precise as it could be.

Awesome to see this getting translated, though. I still need to beat the first game. Working through Spirit Tracks at the moment, CHOO CHOO.
