I saw the Wikipedia article of this game. The game was intended released on North America by Publisher Namco and they called it as "Star Quest", unfortunately it was canceled.

I started playing on my Mega Everdrive. Saving works fine. I'll make a report of errors, if I find any. Only thing I've seen so far are tiny nitpickings of the script hardly worth mentioning.

Hey, this may be a boon to your team that's working on and aiming to finish this game's translation patch. Although it may depend on whether you like it or not. A lady studying at a college by the online alias of 'Nana' has a project where she's planning to translate and insert these scripts into patches for many PC-98 games. However she is asking for donations as she's struggling with balancing between her college studies, part-time work and her translation hobby.

But one of the PC-98 games that she's planning to translate is 'Star Cruiser 2', a direct sequel to this game headlined herein.

Edit: Interestingly enough, this new member of the romhacking community has recently posted details about her projects in the threads over at the Shmups, NFGgames and Tokugawa Corp forums; with enlarged picture proofs and good comments from her and other users.

Thank you for mentioning this. Yes, I already contacted her and teaming up on Star Cruiser 2 is possible in the near future.
Main stopping factor is the text compression routine which I partly figured out (I was able to unpack text), but it's still needs to be fully hacked.
PC-98 is x86 platform (not compatible with IBM PC though) so anybody who are good with x86/MS-DOS assembler could try to help that translation come out faster. :-)

I played a bit. It's a nice game! From what I can see of the script, it looks quite good. I only found a few minor things which could be improved. Here they are:

Checking completed -> Check completed.
Revers -> Reverse
NAME, it was reckless... -> NAME, that was reckless...
Hey, NAME, I'm done here. -> Hey NAME, I'm done here.
There is no items. -> There are no items.
Welcome, mr. NAME. -> Welcome, Mr NAME.

I've played a few hours into the game and have taken some screenshots of typos and grammar problems but now that I check the regen screenshot folder only the most recent ones show properly and the rest are pure black :/ Looks like Surging Aura got most of them though.

When Max refers to Yuko, it's weird that he switches between saying "the professor", "Professor" as if it's a name, and "Yuko", her actual name. I suggest using Yuko in place of professor with a capital P, or just "the professor" throughout except when he mentions her by name.

There's also this sentence by Freddy:
"...program anymore, let's toss it away. FF"strange cylinder shape"We can return now." It's after you finish the second part of the cyber space mission.

It seems Exodus is a somewhat better option for overclocking the game btw; in Regen I can only set the cpu cycles to 528 before audio gets more and more choppy. In Exodus it only gets choppy during dialogue and menu usage, when setting the clock speed to between 8 and 10 million.

I've only watched the video but wanted to make a suggestion. Is there a chance text can be shifted up (i.e. vertically centering names of people in the top box, or avoiding text to be at the bottom of the dialog box for the story text)?

Maybe I'm thinking about translate to BrazilianPortuguese, based on your English translation. Can I?

Me and my cousin wasted much time playing in Japanese, and we were caught in a part of the game. when we have to select options from A to H maybe selecting a sequence... Could be a way to finally (about 10 years later) finish this game!

I made some tests at the ROM patched and HxD hex editor, and seems work fine, but I see I will have problems about word with different number of characters... I don't know how to solve this kind of problem yet.

Example: game = jogo (works perfect!)
                options = opcoes (minus 1 char - don't work fine...)

I'm planning to update my tools so it could be used for any other language translation for this game. And release them along with this translation.
So you could wait a little while for that. Most of strings in this game are variable in length.

I was also able to make a String B eam -> skips to next line by cutting Beam word
