Super mario bros 3 rom hacking Pointers help !

Hey guys, just a quick question I can not for the life of me figure out how to set up the pointers for the overworld maps.. If anyone could should me a video explaining it, that would be great !

Hey. You can double click on the course tile. So, you change the address or which levels you want to put on the level selection screen, then you click ok so it can change.

Annotation: Note describing something
Disassembly (noun): The results of performing a disassembly on program code
Disassembly (activity): To disassemble
Disassemble (verb): To convert from bytecode to assembly code

Basically, someone disassembled the game and then labeled everything nicely so that you can quickly read the annotations to understand what the code is doing.

does this mean, hypothetically speaking that someone with the know-how could use the engine of SMB3 to make a totally original game?

No, since it wouldn't be an original engine. And I am going to assume that the SMB3 engine is designed for only one game, SMB3. There will be lots of assumptions, hooks and design choices specific to the game.
