I'm not sure how to patch this n64 rom
« on: May 22, 2016, 09:58:41 pm »

This comes with two patches. According to the readme, the "z64" patch is intended for the rom in z64 format, with a CRC (checksum) of 5E8FC436.  Or use the "v64" patch for a v64 rom with a checksum of 8AAF74A3.  My rom was renamed n64 so I had to look up the checksum. A program by the name of rn64crc discovered two different numbers for this one rom (E43C9765 and 05B1C1BE), and neither one matches up with what's in the readme.  I'm at a loss.

If I'm not mistaken, rn64crc would be for calculating some variety of specialized internal ROM checksum.  The CRC referred to by the readme is the ordinary CRC for the entire file.

What program are you using for your .ZIP files?  Many unarchiving programs (7zip, WinRAR, and IZArc are the ones I have on hand) already have the ability to display the CRC (or "CRC32") of files inside an archive.
This signature is an illusion and is a trap devised by Satan. Go ahead dauntlessly! Make rapid progres!

I didn't know you could use 7zip for the code, or that there were different kinds. Thanks a bunch! :cookie:
