I'm currently adding the LZSS text decompression code to my script dumper. The text in Goemon 3 is compressed and needs to be decompressed before being dumped.

After the decompression code is added to the dumper; it will be finished for the most part.

After that I'll start looking for a translator.

Nothing at the moment. I'm not currently in the best psychological space to be making promises, for a variety of reasons. My point here is that I still have the work that's been done on my version and that I haven't really given up, but that it also probably isn't quite what people might have expected given what they'd been told prior.

Unfortunately this is false. He initially said he would, but when I asked I was turned down. Which isn't to say that I don't still have my own work (including a fully translated main script and several hacked graphics); it just doesn't look as nice as the screens Avi posted.

Oh wow, I thought he gave you what he had done at the time (since from what I've read, doesn't look like DDS is working on it either). It's odd that he offered then turned you down like that.

Perhaps if asked nicely enough, he might just post what work he did have of his projects to the Abandoned Projects section. That's what the section's for, and if he worked on them off and on for 16 years it would be a waste of his years of time and effort not to do so when there's so much interest by folks to carry on the torch of his legacy.

I can understand it, but if nothing from it is released to make things easier for the people that haven't given up on the idea then there is a logic involved that I do not understand.

Well for one thing, since the graphics and script weren't totally polished and up to my standards, I was reluctant to hand them off -- I would probably want to continue refining them, but then that wouldn't be any different from staying with the project, you know?

Then there's the concept of dumping a project in someone else's lap and running, which I became less comfortable with the more that I thought about it. It's like leaving someone to face The Curse all alone. My inclination shifted toward shutting the project down for good and sealing the mess off permanently, yet that also felt shitty, because it would result in letting everyone down, not to mention a great deal of wasted time and effort.

Anyway, about the same time that I offered to give my work to Gideon, I was contacted by DDS Translation. It was easy for me to decide on working with DDS. It's not that I feel either one of them is more capable than the other, it's just that I know Gideon is swamped and already working on a heap of titles. Considering how long this project has already stagnated, it makes more sense to team up with someone who has adequate time available.

Bottom line: I'm gonna stick it out and see the project through to the end.
