[Gamecube] How to translate an import-only game?

I'd like to translate some of my imported games I recently ripped. The English translations for menus already exist on a few sites, so I'd only need to replace the Japanese text with them. I have a lot of time on my hands and have a lot of programming experience (CS minor) for whatever that's worth. If someone would be so kind as to push me in the right direction to get this done, I'd appreciate it! :)

Later on I'd love to be able to replace other assets (mainly textures and audio), but I'm sure this is a task on its own. Feel free to direct me in some manner on this too though, if possible! Thanks. :D

Most of the methods are similar on all platforms.

I don't know of a lot of GC games going through translation or hacking. There was a soccer game (I think) and there's Super Robot Wars GC.

Looking at how they do things could be interesting, I guess?

Use Dolphin to emulate the game, debug, etc.

Good luck!

Interesting to see the progress on that title. I never would have thought to target textures to manipulate text. This method will work great on menu screens for me. That's really all I want for now, though I'd love to translate the entire game's story mode and release it for everyone to enjoy. I'm going to try it on Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 tonight. I'll mess around in Dolphin and see what I can make happen.

Edit: Using GCRebuilder I removed two of the intro 'cutscenes' to make the game load faster. This did not work as planned. The rebuilt iso file went black screen when it got to their respective locations. Then the game froze (I'm guessing). So I have to do more than move stuff around. I believe the TOC file needs to be edited somehow to allow that to work....I'm not trying to do that though, was only messing around. But...fun first editing attempt!
