I'd say that the JP texts are easy to translate esp. if you are a Spider-man/Marvel comics fan.

Yes, I know there's already an english patch, but let me show you an exemple from the intro scene. First it's the original japanese text, second (in bold) is the text from the english patch and third is the text the way it should be. Sadly, that's the the only text I have translated.

せいふがかいはつした
じんこうなみはっせいきを
DR.オクトパスと
そのぶかたちがうばいさった
New York, somewhere, on Manhattan island...
Dr. Octopus and his minions
have made off with a stolen
artificial wave generator
developed by the government.

ニュ―ヨ―クは

はっせいによりたちまち
こんらんじょうたいとなった
A shadow flies between the buildings at speed...
Due to an outbreak of Spider Slayers,

I wouldn't call it "purist", more like a proper translation.

There actually was a more accurate translation being done by Twilight Translations but their site hasn't been updated in years.

I just translated this over the past day and a half or so. I'll edit the script tomorrow and post it, for what it's worth.

BTW: The previous patch is complete BS. They just made up a story. It's comical to see it after actually translating the script. I hope they aren't passing it off as a translation...

Here you go. I've spell-checked and edited it against a video play-through of the original game so it should be pretty much good to go.

The format it's fine. Thank you. I've finished the intro. Thing are working nice, but a little slow, since there are codes between the text that determines the actions in the cutscenes.

FYI: In going back over the script one more time, I realized that the above line talks about using your remaining time effectively. It might be better as:

@gorgyrip: I was reviewing your translation, and I find that the script has more to tell than the previous translation.

With that, I also discovered some typos:

Spoiler:

phantom -> fathom

from this part, "it" was used twice in one sentence
Also "tractor-trailer" is a bit a mouthful, could have been "trailer truck"

strenght -> strength

wates -> waits or awaits(?)

Torchy -> should be "Johnny"
Also, there should be some instances that Spidey addresses the Torch as "Johnny" as well

Mystery -> Mysterio

light -> lightbulb (referring to Mysterio's head)

And from the options menu when switching Stereo and Monoaural but the game spelled Monoaural as "Monaural", can it be read as "Monoaural" or "Mono" if the text are limited?

That's what I found, I hope you can fix it.

"Monaural" is correct.

Thank you for checking out. My english it's not very good. I've fixed all except:
-lightbulb (not enough space)
-"it" being used twice.

The Option menu was already in english, so i didn't edit it.

Yes, that the script has more to tell than the previous translation because the previous one it's not a translation, just some made up text.

I will update the patch.
