So I've begun to use S.M.I.L.E. which is a Super Metroid hacking utility, but everytime I attempt to load a ROM it either says it can't be a PAL ROM, or "Run-time error '76': Path not found"

So could someone give me the exact name of the specific ROM I need that works with S.M.I.L.E.?

I believe it needs to take an NTSC rom. There is no specific name for it, though the most common has (JU) [!]. Just make sure it's not PAL. I don't remember the header requirements, either.

Is your ROM marked as read only?  That throws a wrench in some editors.  Right-click on the ROM, go to properties, and make sure the Read-only checkbox is unchecked.

Nope - the "Read Only Memory" box is unchecked. Has anyone else here been successful in using S.M.I.L.E.?

Just for kicks, run it as admin or move it off the C:\ if it's on there.

Didn't work as admin, and the location of it is in a Desktop folder.

So, apparently re-downloading S.M.I.L.E. (I'm really tired of typing all these periods...) there are more files than I used to have.. guess I might have... accidentally deleted some of them...? I don't even know. But anyway, thanks for all your help. It now works!
