Just encountered a softlock in the first visit to the Forgotten Capital, specifically in the screen with the long white staircase going down to the castle after descending the clownfish stairs - attempting to exit the screen to proceed to the next area (the one with the save point) causes the game to hang when fading to black during the screen transition. I'm playing on real hardware using Redump-verified disc images with a PSIO, and the bug does not occur when playing the unpatched disc image. The game worked perfectly fine with no issues up to this point.

This only happens if you have Cid in your team. It will be fixed in the next release.

Hi, thanks for the great effort.

I encountered an issue in the Shinra Mansion Basement. Vincent's theme is supposed to carry over to battles, but when entering a battle the music becomes all crazy, like being sped up and with random notes and instruments. The sound effects are fine, after the battle ends, the fanfare will play out fine and the music from the field will resume where it left off.

As I remember Vincent's theme (The nightmare begins) has to be continually playing even in battles. Regardless of how it is, the music screws up when entering battles.

I had forgotten to mention, I'm playing on real hardware.

Thanks Kensou. It has been reported some months ago, fortunately I know how to fix it. Regards.

Thanks. I'll finish this playthrough and am looking forward for the next release. Thanks again for all your effort.

September 21, 2021, 05:01:00 PM - (Auto Merged - Double Posts are not allowed before 7 days.)

I found out another small glitch. The textures of the bridges on the Wutai continent go on and off depending on the camera angle. I thought it might have been a bad burn or my console acting up, but with another disc burn in another console it still happens. I also verified it on the original discs and this does not happen.

Yes someone told me about that, I know how to fix it. Regards.

It is possible indeed, but it takes many hours and I don't know if it's worth it given that the current patch is almost perfectly playable. I prefer to wait until R07 is out. Regards.

Hi again, I found a couple of issues on my playthrough.

When talking the the Highwind crewman that explains the ship controls, if you pick the option to have a chat with him, you're presented with the following options:

-Okay
-Not interested.

The cursor is on "Not interested" by default, if you selet "Okay" nothing will happen, and if you select "Not interested" you'll get the explanation of they the crew of the Highwind sided with Cid.

The other issue is that when getting the Neo Bahamut materia in Cosmo Canyon, the Observatorium music stops but never resumes.

And finally, if you go to the Altar where Aerith died, the game will crash when transitioning from the first screen with steps to the second. Music freezes and screen goes blank. Lost a couple of hours gametime to this one because I'm an idiot and didn't save.

Ok thanks, I'll investigate the two first issues. The third issue only happens if you have Cid in your team, fortunately I know how to fix it. Regards.

Ah, I did have Cid in my team, no wonder. Thanks.

I have another 2 instances related to the issues previously reported.

-With Cid in my party the game also crashes in the Shinra mansion basement when trying to get Cloud's flashback with Zax.
-At the end of Disc 2, the Highwind theme is supposed to play even when the game asks if you want to save before the disc swap. But here it abruptly stops, the music isn't supposed to stop until the game loads disc 3.

Ok thanks, I'll investigate the Cid problem there.

Music stopping when you are asked to save is the intended behavior, it happens when disc 1 ends and it should happen as well when disc 2 ends.

I don't think that's the case, I've beated this game like once a year, but anyways, I also had my doubts if I was remembering wrong. So I looked up a longplay and surely enough, the music doesn't stop:

Check at the 2:06:30 mark

In my playthrough the music stopped when being asked if I wanted to save, not when I selected Yes.

To me it makes sense to stop the music when a disc is beaten, just like disc 1 ending:

It helps to let the player know that it's a transition moment, that one part dies and another one arises  ::)

In disc 1 it makes sense, also the music is more soft, the highwind theme is perky and pumps up the player for the final battle that's why I liked it how it was in the original.

In any case I am just depriving you of a few seconds of the Highwind theme, no big deal. Regards.

Bug Report:

Disk 3, doing Chocobo Breeding.  Got my Green Chocobo and went to get the Mime materia (mountains in southeast Wutai continent).  Rather then picking it up without issue, doing so seems to trigger a boss fight.  But since there shouldn't be a boss fight there, the game simply hangs after the screen fade out.

Got around it easily enough by just loading an unmodified game, getting the materia, saving, and going back to the mod, but still annoying.

EDIT

Tentatively looks like *all* the Materia caves are doing this.

Should probably also have specified: Because Cannon Addendum.
