Because of the animal sprites, this will be children's favourite hack to play.

This could be problematic, given the open narration...

Yeah, the water -totally- looks better in its animated context!

As for the hack itself, I can officially declare Version 1.00 "done". Baddesthacks.net will be the eventual host of this thing, but anyone who wants a copy now can PM me.

Most likely he'll submit it here later. I can't think of a reason why this site would reject it, considering we host that very same Donner Party that was just mentioned as well as stuff like Kim Jong-Un vs. the Pedo-Bronies.

Not at the moment. Baddesthacks.net needs an exclusive to draw traffic to the resurrected site. That said, once all of the bugs and quirks are ironed-out, I wouldn't be opposed to uploading the final edition here.

Yeah, LOI is actually pretty tame! Aside from the drug references, about the only objectionable elements are rampant cursing and mild 8-bit nudity.

So are some rivers in Iowa really pink or was there some other reason for that?
Also, my wife was wondering what song is playing in the meth labs.

I didn't play long last night but I got through the first 2 labs, and I didn't encounter any bugs.
I was a little confuzzled by the lifebar though. I got 3 extra "hearts" but I couldn't seem to take any more hits. (No, I mean from the enemies. I wasn't actually taking hits while I was playing), and I couldn't figure out what the little thing with horns and the =y/n at the top right of the main screen was for.
The music was great but I wish C+C Music Factory was featured more prominently. I totally kicked ass at the Abuse Save State game. The animated water effects are cool too.

No, the rivers in Iowa are not pink.

As an Iowa boy, I can tell you that this hack's representation of the local flora and fauna are not entirely accurate, but it looks hilarious, and I want to try it.

And chance you could get a country music soundtrack thrown in there? :D Lol
Yamero~~!

Up until about a week ago, they were Purple #04.
I changed them to Violet #14 somewhat on a whim, not realizing that that color shows up as pink pretty much everywhere outside FCEUxD_SP.

"Sand Dollar" by Durade.

Ah! The Iowa-Piece system is designed after later Zelda games, where four pieces created an entire Container. The counter keeps track of how many Pieces you have, sort of like the Remainder in long-division.* The purple horn thing is your Kevlar Vest status, and serves the same purpose as the Magic Shield did in the original game.

* There's a known glitch where these pieces don't always properly Save. I thought I'd fixed this problem over this past weekend, but it turns out I merely shifted it from "never saves" to "sometimes saves". In any event, that's my #1 priority for the 4/30 Update. Until then, don't Save until you complete an entire Life Expansion!

As do I! Hell, roughly half the soundtrack gets short-shrift, which is something I definitely plan on avenging in a sequel.

Possibly... Although that would probably fit better in The Legend of Tennessee, rounding up renegade bootleggers & moonshiners.

Hey, Dr. Floppy, are you ever going to release a .nsf file for the game? It would be sweet if you did! Also the game plays pretty great too.
Yeah, NSF files are something I've always wanted to learn how to produce. Alas, NESDev's page didn't really make matters any clearer with respect to the format; I was under the impression that NSF's were essentially stripped-games with just the sound engine & music data intact. Now, I'm not quite certain how to perceive them...  :-\

Could always go use the VGM format.

It seems nothing is displayed on Nestopia. I thought these days of non-working ROMs were done, but no. Both the ROM and the IPS file produce the same result. I can hear the music, I can press start and hear what it seems to be a cursor moving, but just black on screen...

Yet another quirk that snuck past me. The same thing happens at the Registration Screen when played on PowerPak™. Try pushing Select on Joypad #2.

And that goes for any time the game seems to "blackout": Push Select on Joypad #2 to force a Screendraw.

Just finished the first three meth labs, that "Cola" is a lifesaver! I like the graphical presentation so far, a lot more so than vanilla Zelda.

That being said, I noticed that when you enter Meth Lab 3 (Geode)  there's a trashbag/rock in front of the entrance that keeps you from leaving without either beating the boss or by die saving. Other than that, I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary (been using save states to not have to deal with the losing Iowa pieces bug).

Any hints for where the item in Meth Lab 3 might be found? I'm sure I just missed a bombable wall somewhere, I just haven't gone back in yet to look around again.
