I figured I'd try to start getting in to SM64 hacking, so I downloaded all these special tools like Toad's Tool 64, SM64 ROM Extender, and the SM64 Level Importer(1.9S). Everything was going decently, until I opened one of my roms in SM64 Level Importer, which causes the rom to crash upon being opened in Project64 with a message saying "Unhandled CicChip(-1) in first DMA" accompanying it. I want to learn how to fix this, what I did wrong, and if I'll have to download more stuff to fix this single problem. If there's anything else I need to do please let me know.

The problem with crashes is that there is no one underlaying cause. What you have likely done is confused the mapping code so that it doesn't recognize the game, preventing it from setting up the correct emulated hardware.
