With this patch, my journey is finally complete! My final time in the new Justin Bailey playthrough was 3:30:48 and with 94% completion as I somehow missed 2 missile tanks somewhere but I found all the easter eggs this time so that counts for something. My first playthrough was something like 6 hrs! and 73% as Dawn so I cut my time almost in half. Oh, thanks for the no corner map patch Grimlock as it was just hogging space on the screen and made it easier for me to see things. Again, your work is stellar and I hope you make more epic hacks like this one in the future!

Forced myself to wait for the updated release before starting my first playthrough of RD, and the game doesn't disappoint. Never imagined that one of my favorite NES experiences would happen not when sitting in front of my console as a kid, but 27 years later! Awesome work.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your positive feedback!  Getting to 1.21 was a bit of a challenge due to other obligations at the moment but I'm glad we made it happen!

Special thanks to Optomon and Snarfblam for hanging in there and making this update possible!

I still have yet to try this.  Guess I'll be late to the party when I do lol  :D

So good that I've managed to get my dirty hands on glitched 1.20 release  ;)
Really want to get that hitting everywhere glitch :D

Hey Grimlock

Now that 1.21 is out, would you be interested in finishing that interview about the game we'd arranged a while back?

Just wondering.
Like Wario?  If so, check out Wario Forums today!

Finally! Now I know what I'm playing this evening...

Beeing late to the party also means I'm blessed with a fully patched 1.21 version. ; D

You sure delivered, folks! A toast to you!
Pity the world if you fail Spirit Monk, for you are the last. (Jade Empire)

I was in Morph Ball form and moving left while picking up an item and while picking up the item I held right and once the item jingle ended it behaved as if I was holding left.

Samus' Weird Left Leg glitch persists in 1.21, in both Nestopia and Fceux. To replicate: Start a new game, wait until Samus fully spawns, look at her legs. One of the legs still uses the Metroid 1 tile.

Can't replicate. Are sure that you patched correct rom?  :-\

Found a permastuck location in Jungle. Use bombs to get into there.

That's weird.... Maybe it's a strange Metroid dump that I got? Maybe the patcher screwed up?

Found out, seems that at some point the dump was altered, but an alteration that never affected any dump but this specifically one. For some reason, it was always "one tile" that was affected

Original metroid game engine was developed with simple (squarish) design of walls and floor in mind. This engine can't handle such complex terrain of Rogue Dawn. I think it's impossible to fix ALL permastuck / clip places  :-\

optomon

AS a side note to that, I'm pretty sure snarfblam and grimlock reduced like 99.9 % of possible permastuck situations since beta testing. So it could be a lot worse. It's surprising that there are a few left in there.

I dont post very often here, but I'd like to say that this is easily one of the best NES games I've ever played (probably right behind rockman 4 minus infinity for me), which is saying alot because I didn't particularly care for the original metroid.

Ah, okay! I doubt most (reasonable) players will ever encounter that specific glitch or others like it, so it's not important to fix imo.

If I find more, I'll document them anyway for my own entertainment. Highly doubt I will though. :)

Current review summary of this game: "modest and confident". Will submit my first review at rhdn when I finish both quests. Probably sound a whole lot like everything else written about Rogue Dawn so far. ;)

3/25 1:30PM PDT Rogue Dawn 2nd time playing speedrun
w/ Both Bosses this time

I'll look into lowering from 720p to 560p for users on tablets :P
only thing is, it's not integer 240p ratio but might not mater.

*EDIT*
Here it is, 2nd time playing, first time doing most of mini-boss levels, 2:15 both bosses

For true speedrun we need new way of skipping mini boss that guards road to the last location  ::)
