Hey everyone!

This is not my first hack, but it is the first I'm submitting for public use/viewing. Here's my work so far.

This hack is based on one from the now defunct Challenge Games team. ZeldaC - Outlands was an interesting and mostly fun game. The dungeons are great fun, yet the overworld was maddeningly frustrating at best. So I endeavored to lighten the frustration level a bit. The changes to the overworld are mostly cosmetic to allow more freedom of movement. But more enemies were added to keep things somewhat balanced. The white sword starts out right in from of you. A few shops and caves have been moved/changed/removed. The items in the shops were changed as well. One of the shops now sells the red ring, magic sword and magic key[all for 255 rupees].

I take credit ONLY for the changes made since the last version released by the Challenge team, which was years ago. I have not modified the credits.

I've finish the patch, but have yet to figure out how to post/submit the actual file itself. I've looked through the forum and haven't found any options to upload the .ips file. Am I missing something? If it were a snake, would I dead from the bite?

Oh, I forgot to mention that the tools I used are equal to one, ZeldaTech 3.4b by snarfblam.

Also, per Nightcrawlers additional rules, I would be happy to submit the file and write a news article. Writing a news article is the easy part. Submitting the file seems a bit more of a challenge.

To submit a file, in the top-left of the webpage there should be a bar of various options and parts of the site. Further down in this list is the Submissions section, and Submit Files is the first link below that.

Hope that helps! I remember playing Zelda Challenge Outlands back when I was still in middle-school. I should give it another go sometime soon :p

Yah, found that rather easily. But the option to post a file says "ULR only", which is not helpful as this mod has not been uploaded anywhere else. The reply windows here in the forums have an option setting below labeled "Attachments and other options", but when it opens up the only things I see are check boxes labeled "Notify me of replies", "Don't use smileys" and "Return to this topic". There is no option to attach a file.

Is there a special procedure required that I'm missing? Or is my account limited to the point that I'm not allowed to upload anything?

Bonesy

url needs to be a direct link so no mediafire or anything like that

idk what the cool kids use for that if they don't have sites but i think there's a thread on that somewhere that is really recent

So let me see if I understand. I have to have to post this patch to a website with direct linkage, just so I can post it to this website? Seems a bit redundant, doesn't it?

Is the no way to post it directly? How do people post pictures and whatnot?

Would anyone happen to know what that thread is. Can't find seem to find it.

Dropbox isn't working for the images, the patch itself seems to be ok though...

Is it just me, or is perhaps more complicated than it needs to be?

Ok, imgur worked, patch has been submitted. Thanks for the help! And if you're so inclined you should try it out. My friends have been having a bunch of fun with it.

Actually it does. The only way to submit anything, is through Dropbox, since this is the most easy-to-use way.

But when you press on the "share a dropbox link", you need to paste it into blank txt file and make this changes:
-change the https into http, as the site does not accept secured protocol.
-change the www. into dl. to make a direct shortcut, otherwise your IPS will not be accepted, since the default settings are not direct links.

Once you've done that, you have yourself direct links, which you can copy paste into the "URL only" field.

snarfblam

As far as I know, the issue with https has been resolved.

And for the domain name, do not simply change "www" to "dl". Rather, change "www.dropbox" to "dl.dropboxusercontent". If you do the former, whether or not it works depends on which way the wind is blowing.

Alternatively, visit https://www.dropbox.com/enable_public_folder to enable the "public folder" feature which has always provided direct links.

Or just befriend somebody who has web hosting.

Zynk, TY for your guidance and patience.

Snarfblam, TY for the rather wonderfully useful utilities for Zelda 1 you've created. They made for someone like me to dig in and have some fun, creatively. The patches I'm working on are a direct result of those utilities.

Everyone, Thank You for your help!
