Does anyone know how to make it work the translation patch for Dai-3-Ji Super Robot Taisen on the retron 5 ? i tried but the only thing i am receiving is a black screen... any help?

Does the Retron support patches for both header and headerless ROMs?

It looks like the SRW3 patch requires a header.

If not, you're going to have to make your own headerless IPS:
1 .Use a tool like SNESTool or TUSH or whatever to add a header to a COPY of the ROM
2. Apply the patch to a headered ROM.
3. Remove the header from the patched ROM.
4. Use your IPS program to create a new patch between the headerless ROMs (untranslated and translated)
5. Use that headerless patch

Try describing what you are actually doing, step by step, naming every program you use, the OS you use, the hashes of the files you use, etc.

No one else has ever got a 23 GB file while creating an IPS... It's impossible for us to help you without any kind of information of what you're doing.

If you are using version 2.0 or higher of the Retron 5 firmware it should allow patching. When you chose the patch on that screen it should ask if the Patch expects it to be a headered Rom or not. Change that to yes and it should work for you.

what is ips program I use snestool is that right?the file I use is srw3.ips , but does'nt work on the retron I tried headered in both case but doesn't work! any help on what to do? I got the rom file to patch with snes tool form planetemu.net!

A hex editor is more fun. Highlight first the 200 bytes, hit delete. Or for adding a header, insert 200 bytes. TUSH has such limited uses I'm not sure it's worth having around.

and after I removed the header? what should i do?

I tried again with snes tool , added the ips patch and then choose create ips , but i still get a 23gb file!!!

Don't use SNESTOOL. It's an antiquated and buggy piece of software which has been supplanted by newer and better alternatives. LunarIPS can create IPS patches too, so I strongly recommend that.

I got lunar ips , and now? what should I do? anyone can help?
i removed the header with tush , and then applied the patch with lunar ips , and now what?

I think you did it in the wrong order:
Add header, apply patch, then remove header

The process is as follows:

1) Take a clean SRW3 rom and add a header using TUSH
2) Apply the translation patch over it
3) Remove the header using TUSH
4) Create a patch using LunarIPS, selecting the clean original rom and the rom you applied the patch to

i tried , but unfortunatly the file i created doesn't work on the retron , after the main title it's a black screen

Does the patched rom work on an emulator? When creating the patch, did you make sure to select the clean rom as the original and the one you patched as the modified one? Does the original cartridge work without a patch?

yes the original cart , work without the patch i have to try if the patched rom works , but on the retron 5 after the banpresto screen , the game doesn't load

Is what you load still the 23GB file or simply the IPS and ROM file? Yea, a 23GB file is impressive, if you really mean Gigabyte.
