Disclaimer: This is not a complaint thread. I am grateful for what utilities there are. Thanks for your hard work!

The purpose of this thread is for beginners who may wish to promote games there is no utility for. Some of us may have unearthed some basic data to give competent hackers a head-start, but this isn't necessary.

Donkey Kong '94 (GB): A lot can be had with a level editor for this game due to Mario's amazing physics. Through corruption, I've managed to locate the level data. Timers, 1-up hearts, Pauline's items, and hundreds of object data including terrain and enemies (00-FF). I've made a raw document for this, so for any competent hackers interested, drop me a PM.

Sword of Hope II: I was playing this RPG from 3DS VC recently. Potential can be had for text editing, a change of scenery, portrait editing, shop/casino editing, etc. There is plenty to work with for a balance patch, such as the Fortify spell being too powerful.

Shining Force: There is utility for II and III, but not for this one. Huh?

OMG! I agree with Donkey Kong. There needs to be an editor for that game! It has so much potential to many fan sequels and hacks.

Wild Arms 2 (PSX) and 3 (PS2): To me, an editor for both games would be amazing, such as model and sprite editing, not to mention adding scenes and monsters. Maybe make some extra stuff the real games weren't able to do at the time.

Mattrizzle has already documented the level format for Donkey Kong '94. It's straightforward and someone with enough coding experience could spout out an editor in a few months tops.

I can't believe there isn't an editor for Chalvo 55 (easy ass format), Mario & Wario (fun game, format's kinda tricky), Umihara Kawase (BEGS for an editor. It's under development though) and Sutte Hakkun (never looked into the format but I know for certain that at least some level of compression is present)

I remember seeing an editor for River City Ransom (unsurprisingly named "Barf!" as I recall) in development many years ago. Too bad it never came out.

Personally I find it a pleasant surprise if I see an editor for something that is not a mario platformer, a mario kart, a mario RPG, sonic, shining force, advance wars, fire emblem, golden sun, chrono trigger, final fantasy (NES and SNES editions), pokemon, zelda or megaman. Main exceptions being to things on the PC/Amiga that would have also had various editors available (especially if there was an in game editor) and possibly Nintendo first/second party stuff (Rare games have some things, Kirby does OK).

completely no utility?
i think there's one utility but not one you can Do much with, so this game:

Neutopia 1 & 2
for TurboGrafx-16

its 2 awesome games, very similar to Zelda 1, and im surprised no one has though about making a big hack out of it.

Especially since I have hacking info on that game. Well the level data is compressed so that might be one issue.

The Super Mario Advance 4 port for Super Mario Bros 3 is amazing, with all the additional content from all games from the SNES compilation. Right now all the level hacks for it are done with hex editing, which is a shame.

A Donkey Kong '94 editor would be wonderful. Really surprisng nobody's done it. One for Tactics Ogre would be interesting too.

An earlier version of the editor has already been distributed. It's called Reuben.

Maybe Snarfblam could make something like that!
