Playing rom hacks on Super UFO 8

Is it possible to play rom hacks/translations patch on Super UFO 8 flash cartridge? I read some info on that and it only plays backups such as roms but not rom hacks and translations specifically. I wonder if that is true or not. If anyone knows or have tried this, I like to know if it is successful.

I don't know...Just try it on a spare one and see for yourself.

Or upload a ROM with the flash cart data to your computer and open it all on (Dunno if this works but you never know until you try  :-\ ?) an emulator?

Well, basicaly, you need to try it for yourself...

Thank you for the response. I haven't bought it yet, it is pretty pricey so I wanted to find out first if anyone else had tried it.

The Super UFO 8 isn't that bad on price ($45 on eBay).  Now the SD2SNES and Super Everdrive are bloody expensive!!

I think ROM hacks would be fine as long as they run in BSNES and aren't a game with a special chip like Super Mario RPG or Star Ocean.  If they only run in ZSNES then forget about it.  I look forward to buying one if these Super UFO 8's so I can beta test my hacking projects on my console.  :)

That's the thing, I am not sure if it'll work. SMRPG and Star Ocean are actually games I want to play.

For example, I have a Super Famicom and I'd like to buy a Super UFO 8 to run a NA version of SMRPG and Star Ocean w/ translations. Possibly other rom hacks too that are found here. I'm not sure about what runs on what emulator..

You won't be able to play a NA SMRPG on a SFC unless you can find an adapter that will support ALL the pins, or are willing to remove the top of the SFC. Or find a cheap SFC game that uses the expansion pins on the cart connector and swap the PCBs.

I see, thank you. Overall, do you think the Super UFO 8 will be capable of playing rom hacks specifically since it plays back ups from an SD card? My goal is to not use an emulator to play my old games. My idea is to use the flash cart to play all roms and hacks on my SFC. Unless there something else better than Super UFO 8 that I should know about.

I gave you names of two better flash carts that will play those games a few posts above.   Be warned, they are much more expensive.
