v2.43 is now available. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1659/

- Several dialogue updates, including a rework of the intro and a removal of the term Esperland. It is now "The Esper Plane." Thanks to Spooniest for helping me with the intro.
- Bit the bullet and changed Lit/Lit2/Lit3 to Bolt/Bolt2/Bolt3.
- Fusoya can now act while Regen is in effect.
- Multiple item descriptions normalized.
- Appendices (Formerly Supplements) have been remade to look more attractive.

Always loved this hack, and your docs are always short of amazement, I think only Maeson has you beat on that front.

But calling this kind of inconstancy more attractive... some nerve. ;)



Anyways, I think it's time for a replay of this.

And FYI: that CRC32: EE345FBD "to be used" is wrong I think.

That's the CRC32 I get when I hash my base ROM on RHDN and in HxD. As far as I can tell it's correct.

Now is a great time to replay. Feel free to report any typos or any potential improvements to the script. I'm always evolving!

BTW, I fixed the lowercase F in the status glossary. :P I'll even submit a new archive to RHDN!

About the CRC32, then what you have listed must be the "internal" ROM's CRC32 and not the actual ROM itself, see here.

Oh no it's OK! I didn't think it was a knock, I just wanted to clarify.

I had to fix some typos I found in the readme, so I updated the hashes on RHDN and in the readme with the ones Special told me about.

Found even more readme errors, so as an excuse I bundled it with v2.44. This fixes the bug where you could trade 2+ Pink Tails for only 1 Adamant Armor, thus wasting your precious time and rare items. Credit to chillyfeez.

I noticed that with the latest v2.44, the checksum now says it's wrong compared to the previous version v2.43 which was right, is this normal?

Good eye, Special. I've been told by a few sources that SNES checksums mean pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things. It can be fixed with the tool IPSandSum https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/499

It seems it was prudent to me to submit a new version anyhow, because it seems I may have forgotten to bundle the Adamant Grotto fix in with the new version despite my claims. No new version number.

I might be making a new version soon. I updated a couple of character sprites where I noticed errors, and I also slightly altered the "who can equip" property to allow Dark Knight Cecil to use way more stuff than before. Added items are below the spoiler cut.

I'm also thinking of adding a ponytail to Rosa's portrait, inspired by her portrait in the Pixel Remaster. But since this is a pretty radical change, I'm not sure if I should commit to this.

edit 1 - i've gotten mostly positive feedback on this so i'm probably just going to add it to the main patch. i don't foresee many people coming out of the woodwork here on rhdn to give their opinion lol

edit 2 - The proper guillotine sound effect for the top of the Tower of Zot was restored, finally.

v3.00 is out now.

- Cid has new commands: Rush and Smog.
- Spell Venom is single-target only.
- Rosa's portrait resembles that of FFIV Pixel Remaster.
- Cecil (Paladin) learns Armor, Shell, and Life1.
- Rydia (Little) learns Charm, Heal, Cure2, and Life1.
- Cecil (Dark Knight) can equip more stuff.
- Only Cecil (Paladin), Edward, Rosa, and Porom can use bows and arrows.
- Tower of Zot guillotine finally plays the correct noise when it falls.
- Appendices updated.

Edit - A quick 3.01 is out. I just added a sound effect to Sight in-battle. Nothing major.

v3.02 is available. Sorry for another update so soon but I found some issues I needed to correct while working on a fork of Project II.

- Fixed an instance where Cecil's name displayed "Cecil" no matter what you named him.
- Corrected some inconsistencies with Cecil (PLD), Rosa, and Rydia (BIG)'s map sprites.
- Edward no longer looks naked on the world/field map.

I'm aware that the checksum is broken. If I'm not mistaken, this should affect literally nothing at all ever as SNES doesn't really do checksum routines. But I'll fix it with IpsAndSum after the fork project has been released.

Hi.  I found something odd with the ATB display option.  While using Project II v3.03 sometimes one of the party members will have their ATB reset after you have passed on giving them a command.  This can occur as soon as the first battle you have control over Cecil and Kain, but I also progressed until Rydia and Tellah are in the party and I was able to reproduce it in that case.  The ATB will still increase again, but I have watched it go down from 100 to 32.

I came across this because I found a worse ATB bug in Daughter of Darkness and Light, which I don't see a forum topic for at this time.  It is possible, after passing a turn, for Rosa's ATB to fall from 100% to 0% and never increase again for the remainder of the battle.  Using the X button to pass again while the ATB displays 0% does not bring up her commands, so it doesn't seem like this would just be an incorrect number being displayed.  I found this while passing turns on Mt. Hobbs.  I haven't narrowed this down to a specific number of turns it might require, but it seems more likely to occur when the battle takes longer.  But, I also think I have triggered it fairly early in at least one battle.  Perhaps, the increase in party size (to 4 and then to 5 characters) is why I noticed it at this point in the game?  I tried swapping Rosa's position with Yang's in the formation, but Rosa was still the only character to experience this issue.  I have not progressed far enough in Project II to see if I can replicate the issue in that.

I have made save states using higan which display both of these issues if you would like them.

I think I've heard of this issue before. I don't know where I'd begin to start fixing it. I wonder if I should just see if I can remove turn deference? It'd be easier than trudging through the mire of fixing code. Thanks for your report.

I am quite intrigued by Daughter of Darkness and Light.
But honestly, it's basically the same story/gameplay, with the changes are just slimmer DK sprite, Paladin Rosa sprite, and a few equipment and text adjustments.
At least in this case, Kain should be changed into female too (spritewise) and named Kaina >:D. Thus the two powerful Baron commanders are now females, and both are into Cecil the "damsel in distress". Isn't that interesting? :laugh:
And as White Mage, Cecil's sprite should be edited so he looked simpler/plainer compared to the Cecil's Paladin. He's a mage too fancy!
I actually thought of this some more and have a few more ideas to further differentiate DoDaL from vanilla, but it might be requiring much work on your part. So, will post it later if you'd like to hear it. Thanks.
