Glad to hear this is still continuing! I've been pretty excited about playing it since hearing about this (my Japanese isn't too great).

Bob Liu

I know this is bit early, but is there any pics of this game with the translation you can show us? I just want to see progress.

Mikh

then you should of been more clear in your post.

But i doubt there has been much progress. Most of these translations take years with multiple ppl and this only really has one person.

Hi! Just noticed that this thread was alive again, and while I'm sort of barging in, I thought I'd post.

Play fair, I think Bob's request was pretty obvious. It looks like he's been following this thread for long enough to have seen the OP post by now.

I wish I could post an updated shot, but the current test copy is kind of borderline Eldritch in nature once it gets to the stuff that's been newly translated, and I think I managed to find where I CTRL+Ved in some coding where it didn't belong, so it's most likely something goofy that I did. It's been fixed but not reinserted.

https://doushiuhohtranslations.wordpress.com/category/linda-cubed-again/ Here's a tag on my blog with three of the cutscenes translated. Will post more once I actually have some free time. (Been working on a mural for a coffee shop in town and it's p'much sucked the life out of me.)  :banghead:

Swarm's text looks much better in-game, for the segments he translated. There wasn't much in the copy I received, but he did have some stuff in Scenario B that saved me an hour or so.
The plotline+cutscenes+anime scenes for Scenario A are 96% done, save for UI, battle and NPC talk (which I dabble in here and there, but haven't dedicated myself to at all). I'm about a third/fourth through Scenario B. I have a good chunk of stuff in the end and some stuff in the beginning. Scenario C is just sidequests, so while I didn't nab the intro for that just yet, I did finish a couple sidequests, namely, Nek and Sachiko's, which is probably the best part of the route, if you ask me (it's the longest one for sure). Just can't dig into C too much until Scenario B is done, since even that Nek+Sachiko sidequest alone made about 12 references to Scenario A. Some don't make any at all. The storylines themselves aren't all that much text actually, so I can't say it's a lot.  Also ignoring most camping segments for now (since Linda and Sachiko both strike conversations with you at times when you choose camp.)

The NPC stuff and other options too are where things get really hairy, so I'm kind of avoiding that mess until I get to it and replay the game in proper. Scenario C is kind of a bitch to play through though, since the text in the dump likes to go in/out of order depending on choices you make. Some decisions and scenes are 1200+ strings away from the fork in the roads they apply to, so simply reading through the text doesn't help unless you know the script like the back of your hand. Gotta play or watch an LP from Niconico to move along. I haven't managed to set up any emulators to play it properly, so while I do have the Playstation copy, there's not too much I can do with it at the moment. The longest chunk of the process is the writing, which I'm just bad at in general. As you can see in the post, I'm not one to mince words, ever. Will most likely need a proofreader once the translation is all done, regardless.

Sorry for the novella, but I thought I'd share so people can get a feel for what's going on. And, hi, by the way.  :-[

Very happy to hear that this project has a translator again! Also I've been looking through your blog Cargodin and I'm really enjoying all the information on Abarenbou Princess and Tengai Makyou.

Thanks for your blog link and the progress update, I'll check up every now and then. Also, it's good to see you guys have a good bit done already.

Mikh

hey i checked out the videos I use to translate the old Kindaichi anime. If you need (and I can find my old programs) I can take your translation and make them into subs on the video.

Hey, glad to know Abarenbou Princess looked interesting! It's another Masuda game I really love, and eventually I'd like to translate that game as well (although as esper knows I'm still working on Napple Tale as well.... ever so slowly.). And any TM love at this point is good? A bit of a stark reminder that I haven't updated my blog lately, haha. I actually have updated for AP, TM and even a good third or so of Robin Lloyd that I just haven't done anything with. Nice taste all around.  ;)

No problem. It always makes me feel better to see updates and such too. While it's not much, I hope the videos were enough to get a taste of the game. Will post the rest for Scenario A and eventually B. Probably won't post the endings though for obvious reasons. A's and B's are identical actually, but C is pretty different.

I think the best person to ask about how that works would be Esper. I don't really know much about any of the  technical fiddie-diddies involved. Either way, I do appreciate the offer, so thank you super mucho for that, but the text still needs to be proofread before I feel comfortable putting it in with any sort of finality like that.  :-[

You got some good taste yourself. Your blog is literally almost a who's-who of games I've wanted to see translated, I'm surprised I hadn't discovered it before. Also my brother recently played your translation of Patty & Mr. Miles and really enjoyed it, he's been bugging me to play it myself (which I plan to do).

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work on the blog and on Linda Cube Again.

Hey, thought I'd update.

Unless I forgot anything major or I flat out broke something, Scenario B's storyline is done. Most NPC stuff and UI stuff is still untouched though. As I think I mentioned earlier, I'm just going to seek/destroy that stuff as it comes along. Scenario C is also partially done, so it can't be tooooooooooooo far now, but that's looking too far ahead.

Probably won't be able to update for a little while since I've got some irl pains, but I thought the churn would be sweet enough.

Nice! That's great work you've done. You're making excellent progress.

Cargodin

Just thought I'd make another mention. There's still a bunch of work to do, but Scenarios A, B and C are all at that 95% done point. I'm not discounting the chance that I'm missing things here and there, is all. A lot of stuff I can just fill in as I go along. Bought a guidebook that has some character/location names and terms and such in English, so when that comes in, I'll probably go in and change that stuff up too. I feel kinda bad, because on the email side it looks like I'm just pelting esper's inbox with a myriad of snowballs or something. (Sorry! :-[ )

Anyhow, I'm going to try and not post a whole bunch, so I'll probably vanish out. Just thought I'd share since what might just be considered the main hurdle of the translation is, for all intents and purposes, done.

lunarwhale

Not sure if I speak for anyone else, but I personally like to see a lot of posts - nice way to keep people informed about the project's progress. Sounds like you're doing a great job on it too, I'm looking forward to it!

Nooooo!!!
Personally, I love updates but alas, if that's what you're more comfortable with, do it your way. Just don't let us all forget about this translation attempt! Update if anything cool gets done!

Bob Liu

That's some nice progress you've made, Cargodin. I'll be eagerly awaiting new developments on this project.

Cargodin

Cool beans! Glad to help. I liekd the game before, but it's grown on me even more for sure since going in-depth with it. Esper is taking a look at the scripts now. The menus are kinda eerie at the moment, and once we throw in the menu text itself, I imagine it's only going to get scarier, but maybe when we get that figured out, we'll be closer to having some sexed up screenshot party, I dunno. I know that in my case (maybe it's me being a dummy and not having the right plugins) each emulator I use is going all tofumental once I boot up the game. I'll probably have to go in and manually rewrite what I can in the script so the formatting in the dialogue doesn't go straight to hell.

asmith906

Is this still being worked on? I just got a copy of it in. Thought it looked really interesting.

Lets hope so. This game looks too good.
