Need help applying someone's translation patch
« on: May 23, 2017, 02:59:28 pm »
I decided I wanted to try Madou Monogatari, the RPG series that predates the Puyo game series. I ended up finding this patch on this site: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/1502/

The problem is, when I extract it it's a .RUP file. I don't know how to apply this to the japanese .GG file and as far as I know there's no way to stick the RUP or the ZIP it came from into an emulator and get the game working. And for the record i'm using Bizhawk and Madou works as intended when I try that. The Readme doesn't actually tell me how to apply it, so does anyone have any idea how I would do this?

RUP was a patch format by D (developed somewhere around the same time as BPS, which may have even been a successor to RUP. I think the significant difference is that RUP was designed to be a reversible patch, but byuu left it out from BPS when he realized it had little practical use). I think the program to apply it was called "Ninja".
