This is pretty much what you would expect - Oracle of Ages, Kaizo Edition. For those who don't know, Kaizo hacks are meant to be extremely difficult in nature. I don't think this is as hard as those Mario hacks, but I hope it provides a challenge to those who've played through Ages already.

At least, that's the ultimate goal. Right now all I have to offer is a demo going up to the end of the first dungeon. Although it's only the first dungeon, I've put a lot of work into it... especially into the boss. :)

The patch should be applied to a clean US rom. And, for anyone curious, I've also uploaded the source for my custom scripts and assembly hacks to github. The rest was done via ZOLE (zelda oracles level editor).

My advice: Change the name to something else. "Kaizo" does not mean "ridiculously hard", it means "edited" or "modified". (Which technically this hack is, but "Edited of Ages" doesn't make a whole lot of grammatical sense.)

I might end up removing Kaizo from the title altogether, going with something along the lines of "Ages Master Quest". After watching a friend play through it, I got the impression he had more fun with the parts that were less Kaizo-y and more pure puzzle solving. Though I'll still make it difficult, I think I'll go for a different kind of difficulty. :P

Yeah, that sounds like a better title (in no small part because it has precedence). : )

If you're planning to hack Seasons as well, you could focus on that having the challenging combat and leave the difficult puzzles to this one. Or  you could make both have both, or even not hack Seasons at all. Your call.

The thought of doing seasons had crossed my mind, but I'll see how I feel by the end of this. I might instead move on to a more original hack after this.

I thought it meant "asshole"?

As I understand, it technically just means "edited" or something along those lines, however us english-speaking people have widely started interpreting it as "sadistically hard" in the context of rom hacks.
