Any two of what? The other Music Player bugfixes? To my understanding, you can patch any of them after patching the Music Player patch of your choosing in. They are specific to the Music Player and nothing more.

If you mean the other two TWUE patches WITHOUT bugfixes (TWUE and TWUE with Updated Opera), then what I mean is that Main Menu B is meant for them unless you choose Config 1 or 2, which work with all 6 TWUE patches.

It was the first, i'm not so foolish as to mix the main patches. All ok then.

I chose main menu A and the full (longest filename) main patch and the all the music player patches. Seems like the most complete set and main menu A is so much more accessible than the config menu.

I actually wish this specific combination 'all in one' had a patch just for itself since it's so much of a default, but i understand it would make the download size larger.

Hi, I hope this is the right place to report this, but I noticed a typo in Albrook when the party teams up with the Empire. When you visit Albrook to meet Leo, there is a soldier and a townsman in Albrook. If you talk to the soldier, his dialogue is something to the effect of the townsfolk making them feel like how they felt (I can't remember the exact dialogue). In that dialogue, the soldier uses an instance of the word 'its' when it should have been 'it's'.

I wish I had a screenshot but I didn't think of taking one at the time, and now I'm in the World of Ruin. Anyway, I love the patch so far. It's really the best way to play for me.

In addition to adding Dance and Rage descriptions, I am going to make using Cyan a bit more useful by increasing the speed of his fill up gauge. All of those will be available in the Add-Ons patches.

Wow, I didn't expect it to be fixed so quickly. Thanks for the reply. Will the Cyan Add-On be a separate Add-On? Right now I'm playing with the updated opera and all add-ons and bugfixes and would like to keep playing the updated version like that with a vanilla Cyan. (Although his Bushido is painfully slow at times).

Also, any timeframe for the next version?

Luckily finding that line of dialog was simple enough knowing where it happens in game. Sometimes I have to dig a little deeper without a point of reference.

For Cyan's Bushido, its a small tweak that changes the speed of how fast the bar fills up depending on how many skills he's learned. So when he gets all 8, it goes up rather quickly. I can always modify it back. Maybe I'll make an anti-patch for it. I was thinking of doing the same for a few tweaks and bug fixes that some prefer not to have, like the Evade bug and B-Button Dash.

One of the QoL improvements I wrestled with adding in was Alphabetical Rage. Assassin was kind enough to make one that works with TWUE, but I have not tested it yet. The other thing is testing compatibility with the other Rage improvements. Some folks have memorized the position of the Rages in the menus too. So for now, I am opting not to add it.

As for the next release, I'm currently working on getting the Dance and Rage descriptions to fit within the box. Once I do that it will be ready to go. So hopefully by the end of next week. Compatibility with your current save files won't be affected.

I can't wait to play the next version next week. That typo was literally the only mistake I encountered, so I think the next version for me will be the definitive FFVI, especially since I was a bit disappointed with the screenshots of the pixel remaster.

That's why I've been very selective on what I do add in any of the patches, and why there's patches with Add-Ons. I feel that the one's I did choose added to the project while still giving people the choice not to use them.

The patches and changes included do add to the game overall; and even playing with all the add-ons and bugfixes it feels like the original game, just cleaned up a bit. So I really like the patch for that. I'm glad progress is being made. I think I'll start a new playthrough when the new version drops.

Version 3.06 is now available for download! As stated before, this fixes the typo squareinc found, and the patches with Add-Ons now includes Dance and Rage Descriptions in addition to Cyan getting a Bushido meter boost.

This is the state of FFVI translations:


It's truly fascinating. The fanbase is split between Woolsey and Slattery. Charm vs Accuracy. So you have all these variations that are closer to either, or someone's entirely original translation, Slattery with Woolseyisms, Woolsey Uncensored, a little of column A, a little of column B...and it's really confusing for a first-timer to know which script to use to get the most out of the game's story. There's never going to be one that satisfies everyone.

Maybe someone should make a flowchart.

Well, I would personally recommend this version.  It retains a lot of dialog you'll see referenced while tightening up the accuracy and filling out dialog.

Final Fantasy 6 is a good game.  At the end of the day, no matter which dialect of it you play - at their core, they're all the same good game.  If you only want to play once and you're paralyzed by the choices, roll some dice.  You might not get the most perfect translation variant but you'll still get a very good (if too easy) game.

And there's no rule against playing it through multiple times with different translations, either.  Unlike standards, you don't have to pick only one.

100%! And this translation is very close to perfect for what it is (Woolsey Unlimited!), so you know what you're getting into. I would also recommend this for your first FFVI experience, unless you absolutely feel the need for the extra dungeon/boss rush from the GBA version or more direct Japanese translation.

If there's an issue i've seen with all these re-translation hacks is how they want to be close to the japanese script but still uses woosley names or woosleyisms (ex. Mina = Elayne)

Of all the people that i've seen dealing with that were RPGONE and rodmerida

This hack is perfect for people who wants an uncensored version of FFVI on SNES, but I would rather prefer a re-translation using the original japanese version

A lot of the script would have to be changed. Since what it sounds like is you probably want more literal. As little localization as possible even if it sounds better to English speaking audiences. Kefka would need to be as generic as possible. For example:

I'm pretty sure you're aware that English has so many idioms and phrases that can be translated out of that. "Kuso" has been as vulgar as "Shit!" or "Son of a bitch" to as tame as "Blast it!" in MANY different video games, anime, manga. Personally, and many agree, what we got not only gets the point across, but is funny and extremely memorable.

Complain all you want about it with "There's no submarines in FF6!" or "That line shouldn't be as fun or memorable!" but that's one of the reasons why people WANT it kept as is. It's VERY much like "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this." or "You Spoony Bard!" They work so effectively in English even if they aren't as accurate as you may like them.


All in all, this project was really trying to bridge the gap between those that want it more accurate, and those that love those classic lines. So many clearly love that and some don't. What more can I say then やれやれだぜ

I have to agree. The "Submariner" line from Kefka was classic Woolsey charm. Changing it would kill a very funny and endearing line and go against the very purpose of this project.

I always thought the submariner line worked because Edgar basically turned the castle into a submarine. 'Son of a submariner' hilariously captures Kefka's surprise at the absurdity to me.
