Oh. Hmm... I don't have a smartphone anymore and I'm not sure if I can rely on Gamestop's connection either...

Either way, it's not like I can afford it right now anyhow! XD

There's no shame in an original model.  I had the wherewithal to upgrade, and decided to do so, mainly for eye strain purposes.  I really need to upgrade my DSi to the XL as well.

Typical Nintendo.  I've got the model I wanted, anyway.  I like my red XL.  :)

Very smelly and putrid indeed. Almost as bad as if it were dry and old.

Yeah, I want one for the bigger screen. I can see well enough on my original model, but the XL's screen is just so comfortable...

To clarify crosstalk:

Apparently it's when one eye's side of the 3D bleeds over the parallax barrier into the other eye's side.

Some people say this is really bad on the XL.  Some people say it isn't.  I think it's probably based on if you're viewing the device correctly in the "sweet spot".  Sarge or Gid, either of you ever have this issue?

Edit:

After reading the 3DS XL's user manual, I now know why the 3DS is region locked without doubt.  The parental control system in the 3DS is so in-depth, that it has to be tailor made for each region.  Trying to make a 3DS's robust parental lockout system work across all regions, and still be intelligible to the average consumer, would have been practically impossible due to legality concerns alone.  Nintendo played it safe because of "Think of the children".

Yeah, I didn't explain it very well, but that's exactly what it is.  Again, I've seen it, it does crop up from time to time.  I just live with it, it's part of the screen tech, and it happens on both models, so it shouldn't really influence your decision that much.

We're not getting just about any XL models. Europe got a damned Fire Emblem model that I would've bought almost instantly if they'd let me. But noooo.

There's also been a Pikachu one, a white one, and SMT IV is getting one too that I doubt we'll get.

And we're the only market that doesn't get these. Japan and Europe share most of them. And I'd buy one of those, but the consoles are region-locked.

Seriously, fuck you NOA.

Bit of a bump, but I just ordered a 3DS XL and it'll arrive very soon, but right now I'm so paranoid of dead pixels, as they seem to quite the complaint from many XL owners. :-\

It arrived, and everything seems to be fine. Huge relief.

I'm also so amazed at how different it is compared to my original 3DS. It's so great.

Mine had a dead pixel, so I returned it.  Next one was just fine.  The experience is much more positive overall than the original.

Still pissed off that the 3DS XL doesn't include the second analog stick at the very least, even if it excluded the extra buttons found on the CPP.

Fucking Nintendo.
