There's no source for what he's saying, so take it with a grain of salt.
Also, if you're gonna dig deeper into his Twitter, be prepared for Political BS.

The project github page has been deleted, so there might be some truth to it. Considering the project was, supposedly, practically done, this is a real kick in the balls.

That could also be due to the harassment.  I would not doubt it if they get random threatening emails from people.  I know I have gotten a number of them for my work.
