Also very excited you guys picked this back up and seem determined to cross the finish line.

Good luck.

That's very exciting news =0
This game I badly wanted to play for a long time. Probably it's №1 import exlusive that everyone saturn owner would like to play in english.
The value of your project is difficult to underestimate, please keep up the good work.

The past few weeks have been very productive.

- All entrance signs have been created, as well as copied, distributed into subfolders and renamed to facilitate an attempt at full insertion.

- Map graphics have been fixed, including Dwalf Land (sorry BlackMageJawa  ;))

- One set of monster names that exist as graphics has been fixed. Alterations include Bigfook to Bighook (this guy) and Polter Geist to Poltergeist, among others.

- I've taken the first baby steps into another editing pass. Hopefully, this round will go more quickly than the others.

This is wonderful news!  I have been faithfully waiting for this translation for years.  I'm super excited to hear about your excellent progress.  I can't wait to see it when you are finished.  Thank you so much for doing this.  I wish there was something I could do to assist you or make things easier.  Good luck and thank you for being awesome!

Looks cool, the sad thing is, there isn't a good Saturn emulator (Even Dreamcast has better).

Mednafen & SSF are both good saturn emulators imo

The Beetle Saturn core for retroarch works fine as well. I used it to play the Albert Oddyssey Gaiden RPG. Yaba-sanshiro has made lots of progresses lately, as well.

No, they aren't.

I can understand having issues with SSF, as it's not the most stable of emulators when it comes to config, but I don't see how Mednafen wouldn't be considered "good.  It's highly stable, has a reasonably low list of known bugs and is pretty easy to setup.

No, they aren't.

The only real issues are that SSF has some audio issues, and Mednafen runs too fast. All Saturn emulators also fudge their VDP2 implementations, but that only presents itself to developers doing homebrew and rom hacking.

SSF and Mednafen are more than good enough for anyone just wanting to play the games.

Low level Saturn emulation at least has been decent for over a decade now.

I have been silently waiting for this project for about five years now, and now that it's near completion, I've made an account just to give a BIG BIG THANKYOU to the people who made this possible.

SamIAm

Thanks guys. Your enthusiasm and encouragement mean a lot.

I'm about 15% through my third in-game editing pass, and happily, it's been much smoother sailing than my first two rounds. At the same time, I've still encountered a few things that needed tweaking, which makes me glad that I'm doing this.

I can't quite say what CyberWarriorX has been up to specifically, but I know he's been active.

It's impossible to say when we'll finish, but progress is definitely being made.

Thank you, everyone!  :)

Glad to hear progress has been going well! Only found out about this after playing through Aegis Rim, but I've been a huge fan of Vanillaware's previous games, so I was glad to hear that this was getting an English patch. Thanks for all the work you've put into this project!

ArkthePieKing

Aww that's super hype dude! And yeah it's really nice to see you active again, even just the "hey I'm working on it" with no specifics is always great, so don't ever feel like you don't have enough to say. We're all here to support you in whatever capacity we can. And of course, as always, no rush. Take your time, don't burn yourself out, work at your own pace, etc. We'll be here, we're not going anywhere. <3

Prock78

Thank you very much for your hard work on this English patch! That's definitely a Saturn game I'll enjoy to play in English! :)

I have used emulators for systems like the PS2 or Dreamcast that are a lot more intuitive and work beautifully.  I don't want to take away from this game anymore though as it looks really cool.  It is just a bummer because I've never found a Saturn emu that is intuitive or works well.

So great to hear this has been picked up again, good luck!

gbaker9000

any chance of a language toggle for Japanese/English in the settings of the game? I would like to have it on disc but I don't wanna ruin the original integrity of the physical copy of the game

SamIAm

To answer your question directly, no, that will not be possible.

I have to say that I'm not entirely sure what your concern is, though. If you have an original physical copy of the game, nothing is going to change that.

The translation will come in the form of a patch to be applied to a rip of the original CD on your PC. You can take that patched game and burn it to a CD-R to play in real hardware, or you can put the file(s) on something external to load into an ODE like the Fenrir/Satiator/MODE/Rhea, or you can simply emulate the game.

If you want to play the Japanese version of the game, nothing would stop you from simply using the original version and loading from the same save file you were using to play the English version. The translation is cross-compatible in that way.

paul_met

Which version of the game is used for translation - "1M" or "11M (Rev A)"?
