I'm very excited for this. Glad to see it's moving along. I thought it might've died after such long radio silence. I'm so eager to play it @.@

Keep up the good work :)

Lord Igniz

As everyone else has stated, thanks for the update and hard work. Glad to see that so much progress has been made- sounds like things are entering the final phase. Can't wait to finally play it!

Makeiks

I really want to play this one thanks for the hard work and I appreciate what you people are doing.

I saw this link otherday wondered if it might be useful

https://kotaku.com/want-to-play-princess-crown-in-english-heres-how-642695362

I would not encourage people to use that at this point.

I mean, if you absolutely must play Princess Crown right now and want to see some English by any means possible, then go ahead, I guess. But what CyberWarriorX and I have made is a fully original translation that is both more accurate and that displays properly in the game itself. With all due respect to the person/people who made the translation in that link, I'm confident that once we're finished with our version, nobody is going to use that again.

If you were wondering if there is something in there that might serve as a resource to us, then thank you for trying to help, but there simply isn't. Our script is fully translated and very near its final evolution in the editing process. As the translator, I deliberately avoided looking at that other version because I wanted my work to be truly original. However, I did check just a few spots for comparison at one point, and from what I saw, it's less like they took some liberties and more like they rewrote the whole thing however they wanted. Also, in the intro, the main translator admits that his Japanese isn't that good, and from what I saw, it showed. There might be some lines in there that are clever in their own right, but the tone is drastically altered overall. In a way, I think it would be a pity for someone's perception of Princess Crown to be colored by something so different from the original Japanese game.

Just wanted to say all of your hard work is appreciated, and every time I think of a fan translation of any game my brain immediately reminds me "oh hey, you should go check on how the Princess Crown translation is going."

Looks awesome, what a pity there are no good Saturn emulators (I mean, the Dreamcast is miles ahead of the Saturn for cripes sake) and the best emu Saturn does have has issues galore.

Maybe in 5 more years...

Kudos for the effort.

Aside from the translation project, is the Yabause emulator also been updated?

I haven't seen that much activity on its Github page.

Not only has it not been updated in ages but I am almost certain it has been abandoned.  It should just be erased from all emulator sites, it is NOT good.  If I can get Skies of Arcadia to run perfectly on various Dreamcast emulators, there is no reason why I should have a plethora of issues with freakin' Albert Odessey on Yabause or SF or the few other poorly done and/or user unfriendly emus for Saturn.  Sad for Saturn as it is a good system but time has not shown it much love especially in regards to emus.

Pennywise

Although I'm not sure if he's still a dev on Yabause, CyberWarriorX was a member of the Yabause team. AFAIK, it's the only Saturn emulator with decent debugging capabilities, so I wouldn't brush it aside so easily or else these wonderful Saturn translations probably wouldn't exist.

Saturn emulation on Mednafen is almost perfect. The emulator is very CPU intensive but if you have a decent computer you can run most Saturn games flawlessly. I've played a few Saturn games on Mednafen recently and it is by far the best experience I've had playing Saturn games on any emulator.

Yabause works just fine with Princess Crown. It's what I used during my last pass of the game, and the graphics are all 100%.

Yeah, I was about to say, Mednafen is great. No problems whatsoever while using it and runs silky smooth.

SSF and Mednafen are great and play the game perfectly. Now, if by "good" emulator you mean one that can give you vaseline filters and texture enhancements and all that crap, then yeah, there's no "good" emulator for that. But if you want accurate emulation, then there are already two emulators that can give you that.

There's a promising new Saturn emulator in development:

"promising"

If he's asking for money, it's not going to be better than the 3 emulators already available. There has never been a pay/donate emulator, ever, that has been better than free open source/private emulators. There has been some exceptions, like Magic Engine (Turbografx), but that's because there were no other good TG16 emulators at the time. But the moment Ootake and mednafen came out, everyone dropped Magic Engine right away. Same for the No$GB guy, he spent years asking for money and his emulators were only good at the beginning when there were no other options, but after more free GB emulators came out, there was no reason to pay him any more.

So in short, if his motivation to work on this emulator is the hope that people are going to donate, then that's a failure right there.

butane bob

Drastic doesn't work on Windows making it useless.

Bonesy

i mean on one hand i get what you mean and in that case just use melonDS or Desmume

on the other, you can use bluestacks/nox/etc

Grillkick

Just get a Sega Saturn and mod it. They're so inexpensive now it's crazy.

gadesx

A sega saturn 2 moded, + joypad 2 + rgb + mem cartridge, here they sell the pack around 150-200 bucks.
An psx moded, joypad + Rgb 30-40 bucks.

So If you sold your Sega saturn in Spain atleast, get one back it's pay much or use emulators.
Looks like try to buy a NeoGeo.

SSF can emulate a lot of games
working fine with intel core 2 duo or better.
Mednafen runs at 44Fps with my core 2 duo at 2.66Ghz. (5Fps in 2018)
No idea about Yabause, 15 years old and Dark Savior doesn't work, unplayable.
