Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you or Princess Crown.

Good news is we're still making progress and getting closer to the end. It's taken a lot longer than SamIAm or I would've hoped but we're going to get it done.

For those who have been trying to compile the Github code, it won't work. It's been broken for a while. Just be patient and we'll get it done.
Fantastic news. My original copy of Princess Crown is ready 8)

Kind of a random question but, is this translation being tested on emulators or the actual system on a TV? Curious if a font that thin can be read easily on a TV, especially since the Saturn was designed for a SD CRT.

QuoteCould we get an ETA? I'm trying to decide whether I should just start playing it in Japanese and use the online translation guides, or stick it out and wait for the translation patch. If it's gonna be months or years I'd rather just play it in Japanese with a guide tbh.

It really depends on how much time we have available to work on it. I think it's safe to say there's a minimum of two months of work left. That's assuming both SamIAm and I were working on this full time which we aren't. Probably looking more like the latter half of 2019.

It's certainly up to you if you prefer to wait or not.

QuoteWhat all is left to be done? First release ain't gotta be perfect

Most of my debugging and testing is done via Yabause. I do test on real hardware every so often using a real TV though not a CRT(I don't own one anymore). The original japanese font was 12x12 and just as thin. This is basically a variable-width(up to 12 pixels in height) font.

CyberWarriorX, I've been having a bad week. A REAL bad week. And you just made it so much better. The fact that we could be getting a 2019 release of this translation makes my heart sing. I've been following this project for...man how long HAVE I been following it? Years? I feel like it has to have been years at this point. And your dedication to it has been inspiring. I'm so excited for the final release. I'm not in any way interested in rushing you. I'm glad you're taking your time. But I'm so glad to have something to look forward to this year. :D

I'm hyped. That's more than fine. A ways off but I've got stuff to play until then so it's all good. Thanks for the ETA :)

New user in the forum I'm from Argentina. :woot!: Been waiting for this release a long time now! Super hyped to know this is pretty much going to get out this 2019. Just wanted to give a HUGE thanks to CyberWarriorX and SamIAm for their work and effort!  ;D
Sorry about my poor english. Have a nice year!

Simply wanted to tip my hat and say I am also immensely looking forward to the final release of this translation. I've been wanting to play through Princess Crown in English for quite a while. 6+ years working on a patch is quite amazing so I truly appreciate all the work you've done. Please keep it up, I hope you release it this year!

RetroProf

I intend to play through this on my RHEA board inside my Saturn on a CRT (so I can mention if the font looks wonky at any point).

With regards to patching, is there any chance the patch utility can patch the files created by CloneCD? I used this to rip my discs into the format required by RHEA (it supports other formats, but not when there's audio tracks separate from the data track on the disc).

If not, that's cool. I can just reburn it on a CD-RW and then re-rip it for RHEA. Just thought I'd throw this out there, along with encouragement. Well done all involved.

2019 will be a great year for Saturn, if both Linkle Liver Story and Princess Crown translation patches are released!

Hi CyberWarrior,

New user here, just made an account to thank you and SamIAm for your hard work on this translation.

I have been following this project for over a year now, eagerly anticipating the release.

Thanks for your hard work for the Saturn community

Been waiting for an english translation of Princess Crown for a decade, I originally played the game in japanese on PSP, but never finished it (I only got one character ending), then I just dropped it basically due to the fact that I couldn't understand anything about what was going on.

Can't wait to play this in english finally, good luck!

rmatheso

This is my #1 fan translation request. I really hope that it sees the light of day is this game absolutely deserves to be played in English. I'm rooting for this!

curseofnight86

Soooo looking forward to this. Judging by the info on the wiki, it seems you guys are really close. Good luck!

I hope this translation gets finished in time, also I hope the PSP version gets translated too. I can't wait for it to come out. I have played the other Vanillaware games but not this one, although I played a bit of the PSP version though.
I believe the morning sun, always gonna shine again.

SamIAm

Major progress has been happening on this in the last year. Today we reached a major milestone: I've now completed a thorough playthrough of the translation in an emulator with the finalized print routine in place. The script has undergone heavy editing and only needs one last light pass to call it finished. Many critical bugs have been squished, and the remaining bugs have been clearly save-stated and cataloged.

There are certain pieces of text that exist as graphics, and tackling them will be our last big hurdle. That's what I plan to look at next.

Real life is very busy for both CyberWarriorX and myself, so it's impossible to give an ETA at this point. In addition to the graphical text, there are several other minor issues to take care of, and who knows how all that will play out. Regardless, the project is ready to move into another phase. We'll keep you posted! Thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm.  :)

Awesome news! Thanks for the update & best of luck with those finishing touches (and with the real life business!)

Lentfilms

That's great news! I wish you guys luck on finishing the project.

ArkthePieKing

Wooooooooooo! That's amazing news dude! Take as much time as you all need. Real life ALWAYS comes first, and the fact that you're doing this at all is super meaningful and amazing. I wish you both the best of luck, and my eternal support and gratitude <3
