That's fine, I'm okay with waiting. Just know that I'm willing to test when you get finished.

oh my goodness... its done ;)

I need someone to play thru the game with someone other than charmander...

my save file picked charmander... so ive tested all the mystical dog codes with charmander... only

basically... i could not edit that code that releases the mystical dog...
lets say you picked charmander... your released dog is suicune...

but at that same point I activate events I put throughout the land... so if you go to route 2 and look behind diglett cave... you will find raikou... if you picked bulbasaru you would find suicune behind the cave...

the third mystical dog is in rock tunnel...

no matter who you pick... in the beginning of the game when you finish in the forest heading up to pewter town... you will see raikou if you look hard enough (ok you dont have to look that hard) you cant see any of the other dogs before they are released. and if you pick anyone other than charmander you wont see raikou in that spot again...

kinda wierd... its just how I did it tho... and it works ;)

Might want to put up a Help Wanted Ad for testing. Doing testing by yourself is a horrible pain and prone to a lot of error.
Who will quote me next?

is that something I do before I release it to the database... or just release it and have people tell me if they find any glitches?!?

February 09, 2013, 03:56:41 am - (Auto Merged - Double Posts are not allowed before 7 days.)
UPDATE:

for anyone who cares...

Troubleshooting is going well, so far I have solved every glitch I have found (some were VERY serious)
I have also implemented a few things I neglected at the start of the project... for instance, now the nurse at the poke center does not sound like a heartless jerk... she tells you to take care of your pokemon instead of telling you to go get them beat up so you can return to her pokecenter...

I cant give any sort of release date... but it shouldnt take more than a month... but i guess that depends on if I have any more huge issues pop up...

This seems like a good hack!!
It's been ages since I played the original Gen I & II and this has captured my interest.

Just one question: Is this only for the English version?

I'm sure people would appreciate other language patches (me, for example).

I have added Version 1.1 to the database here... its 1.0 with the optional catch your starter event...

I have begun work on version 1.20, in this update there will be a new island called "4-Points Isle" where you can find all the gen 3 pokemon...
the entire island is very religious and dont believe in fighting... so there are no trainer battles allowed. the pokemon will be broken into level brackets based on what time you could access that part of the island... the first part being immediately after the S.S. ANNE and the second being after you recieve the PokeFlute... the third being after you get to Celedon... (more to come but I have not decided when to implement those parts) you just have to get back to Virmillion after each point and take the boat back out there... or just wait till its convenient and head over (just be sure to have some weaker pokemon to catch pokemon in the lower level brackets)

this entire island is optional. but it will be the only place to get gen 3 pokemon... there will be a bit of story in this addition to complement the massive ammount of legendaries being added (Regirock Regice Registeel Kyogre Groudon Rayquaza Latias Latios Jirachi)

If it isn't too difficult, I have an optional thing I'd like to request. If it's not too hard to implement, could you include some way to change the color of your character's clothes? For example, from red to green? If it's too much trouble, don't worry about it, but it would be kinda cool to have your character a different color rather than red (in my case I'd probably make him green since that's my favorite color).

Also, cool userbar. If you have some free time, could you design me one for my Mother 2 Fan Translation project?

I have wanted to make a clothing store... where you could buy new clothes... put it in celedon...

there is room for more sprites, but i dont know if there is a way to perminently change it... so it may be possible to do it for 1 room only :(

which could be fun too, put it in the mimics house and as you walk through racks of clothing you change into various characters, (mario, link, samus, various pokemon) but when you leave her room you would still be you...

if I can change the sprite on command forever... I shall surely implement this... It was kinda a thought already...
========
thanks ;)
I will look inti it, they are not terrably hard to make (im no graphic artist, im just pretty good with ms.paint)
are there any specific characters you like, or something you would wanna see done...
colors (background or letters)?

I'd like it to be similar to your UltraViolet userbar, except for a couple things. One, instead of an ultra ball, a GBA. Two, instead of Mew, Ness holding up a "peace" sign (as if posing for a photo). And for the background, you could use the checkerboard pattern on the file select screen. For the text, something like "Mother 2 Fan Translation" will do.

Very nice, except I was wanting an actual GBA on the left instead of the GBA logo. But that looks definitely cool, thanks!

I'm definitely looking forward to this. I like your redone title screen too.

Do you have any WIP patches available yet? I'd be happy to help you test play.

Yeah, if you click his userbar, it'll send you to a place where you can download the beta patch.

I have tried your hack and seems very well done.
However, some work must be done to polish it more:

- Change title screen PKMN scream to match MEW's.
- Fix dialogs in the secret OAK place. After some dialogs, other will pop-up but fade away.
- Fix MEW's secret location map, it is a bit... unpolished (like hill borders and the map weird blue surrounding tiles).
- Fix MEW still appearing after getting it?

And I had to fix the ROM header after patching it so it could work on real hardware.
I have not played much farther than 2nd badge, so I don't know what else could be fixed/polished.

Also, if you are not willing to make patches for other ROM regions/languages,
would you release the patch "source" (tools, known data addresses, data format,
etc. documentation) so others can port your work?
