I loved your work on Cyber Knight 2 and Ys 1/2 Complete! :D
Thanks. :)  In retrospect, I probably could've done a better job on CK2... but I at least did the research to figure out all the weirdo names the Japanese have for well-known constellations.  It really just needs a cleanup edit.

I realize I've never introduced myself before so here goes. I go by Kagemusha because I'm a bit of a Kurosawa fan(It's the name of one of his movies). Kagemusha is a shadow warrior and I used to be a lurker. I thought it was fitting back when I registered. My real name's Garrett and I currently attend community college(HVCC), but I'm about to transfer to a four year school. I first got into the romhacking scene back when Dejap released their patch for ToP and I accidently stumbled upon this site awhile back. I'm glad I did though. Currently I am able to do some basic romhacking, but when it comes to anything advanced like ASM for the most part I'm in the dark. That's about it.

Ys I Complete (PC)completeWith Nightwolve
Ys II Complete (PC)completeWith Nightwolve
Ys III (Famicom)completeWith Kitsune Sniper
Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (PC Engine)completeWith Nightwolve
Ys IV: Mask of the Sun (Super Famicom)completeWith Gideon Zhi... more of a retranslation of the original atrocity of an English script than an original work, but I'm proud of it anyhow.
Ys V (Super Famicom)WIPWith Gideon Zhi... Waiting for one of his cohorts to finish up some utils to allow me to get the item/magic/etc. text. Primary script is 100% done.
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim (PC)unreleasedWith Nightwolve.  Unreleased to avoid legal troubles when Konami licensed the game for US release on the PS2 and PSP.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana (PC)completeWith Nightwolve.  95% beta leaked to the public (>:(), but the proper finished product is on the way.
Ys Origin (PC)WIPWith Nightwolve.  NW's done all of the work needed for me to handle this one almost completely on my own.  Roughly 66% complete, because I don't like Yunica and I'm having difficulty getting up the motivation to work on her script. :P
Cyber Knight 2 (Super Famicom)completeWith Gideon Zhi. He talked me into this, and I did a quickie job on it... something like 21 days, which is about average for me.
Samurai Shodown RPG (Neo*Geo CD)WIPCompleted the Kanji table, got a full script dump, but I need an ASM hacker to put in an 8x16 font.

Since Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim for the PC is complete does Nightwolve plan on ever releasing a patch?

It's not actually complete.  It's been stalled out at 95% ever since Konami licensed the game.  Out of print or not, their license is valid, so if and when the patch is ever completed, it won't be released for quite some time.

Here I go, spotting this after already posting (but relevantly, dammit!) several times in other threads, buuuuut, here I am.

I go by Deuce, and have done for many years... 'twas a character in an unfinished story I wrote some fifteen years ago, with the name inspired by a line from Clive Barker's The Damnation Game.  In some circles, I'm also known as MoriyaMug.  Short story, but one I doubt you care about.

I live in South Carolina, much to my own chagrin from time to time... trapped in a world I never made... Jew by birth, raised Southern Baptist, staunch atheist in my adult years.  A liberal in a ferociously red state.  Help me.

I've flitted from obsession to obsession, invariably game-related.  I created the Ninja Gaiden Homepage and Legacy of Ys page.  I used to create characters for M.U.G.E.N. back when Elecbyte was still around.  This is how I came to know Kitsune Sniper, way back when.

I got involved in game translating because of my well-established Ys obsession, dating back to 1989.  I wound up doing Ys I Complete for Nightwolve on a lark, since he made the script file openly editable. Since then, we've worked together multiple other times, and I've also gotten involved with the estimable Gideon Zhi.  My translation credits, in case you care...

Yes, Ys is my focus, but I'm branching out here and there.  And yes, I really do talk like this. ;)  Nicetameetya and all that.

Yeah 4chans /v/ helped leak the hell out of oath, I ignored it tho knowing that the final would be better and that the leak must of been quite annoying to night wolf and co. (You).

Were you and Nightwolve going to do some kind of revamp on this (other than that abandoned dub idea)?

Yes, we will at some point soon. The current translation smacks too much of Shimarisu's literal... well, I'll be nice and call it "style."

Oh? Heh, that'll give me an excuse to play through it again  ;D

So, are you a fan of any other Falcom games?  ;)

Does that include subtitles for the dialog by any chance?  Or are you guys going to stick with the txt file for speech?

Not especially so.  I've got Gurumin on PSP, but I haven't had a chance to really sit down with it yet, with all the translation stuff I've had going on.

There's no way to subtitle the dialogue.  That would entail hacking in entirely new code for text display, which, so far as I understand it from what NW has told me, is a relative-to-absolute impossibility.

Not even The Legend of Xanadu 1 & 2? From what I've played of the first one it's just like the classic Ys gameplay. Haven't had the chance to play the second one though.

MoriyaMug

I've never had occasion to play the LoX games, actually.  I've heard some of the music, though, which I liked...

Hmm.. I wonder if all the cinemas uses the same program/code. If so, I might just be insane enough to attempt it if there really is a demand for it. But somehow I doubt there is. And besides, redubbing would be waaayyy easier.

Oh, believe me, there's a demand.  If you could somehow get it to work, you would be much-lauded for it.  But I know absolutely zilch about how it's all set up.  You would have to get in touch with Nightwolve. The dub project appears to have fallen flat on its face, anyway.

Hmm - I take a look at it :)

The cinema code I mean. I'm not sure about the ingame ADPCM parts that have no text though (i.e. the opening boat scene between Dogi and the other guy). That would have to be done in sprites since the screen scrolls and such.

granitor

Hi,

I didn't really intent to post anything here for about a month, just lurk about for a while... I joined up various boards when looking for info on the MegaTen games and also because I thought there was an interest in developing related games, I've heard rumors of at least one MUD... I like MT because it's to me a more realistic (or, self-consistent) variant of cyberpunk, and who doesn't like cyberpunk?

Anyhow, I'm busy  (or procrastinating) so I won't have much to say for another month or so.

As to my background... did a bit of programming as a hobby when I was younger... had the (mis) fortune to work as a JAVA programmer for a while.... supposed to be studying for a degree in comp. sci. nowadays, generally I like building tools, but my discipline's gone to hell nowadays so haven't finished anything recently.

Chunky_Kong

Hi, my name is Chunky_Kong and I'm new here, What I like to do is to hack ROMs, I plan to make level editors for 3 DKC games since no one has bothered to make them yet, so don't bother trying to discourage me. Just kidding. :P

DaMarsMan

Welcome to RHDN. Follow the rules, be nice, and most of all...Enjoy your stay.

Zuqkeo

I've already posted a few messages on some of the topics, but nonetheless here is a small introduction for those of you who don't know me. I'm Zuqkeo from the Netherlands and I'm a computer science student at the moment.

Currently, I'm working on a translation of the Japanese SFC game: "Panel de Pon", which some of you might recognize under the name of "Tetris Attack". With this being my very first ROM hack it seems to be doing better than expected as it's progressing nicely, but it will take some more time to finish it. I have some ideas for the future, but because time is limited I'm not going to start any new projects before finishing this one.

DairuggerVIII

Hi, my name is Joel S. and I'm from Flushing New York. I'm starting to really get interested in ROM Hacking because it looks like a really good hobby to get into, I also like that fact that you can redo the calssics in your own image and translate games into english that never came out in the U.S.A. This seems like a very mellow and cool community to be apart of.

And to think this is the first message board I ever joined! I also work as a system administrator. Well, I also was invited to come join this community by my cousin Googie. He is currently teaching me how to ROM hack at the moment. So I hope that in the future I can make something decent to share with you guys. So yeah, that's about it for now. I'll see you guys later...
