Hi all! I've been poking my nose into this community for many years, but never made an account, and never made a serious attempt at hacking/translating games until now—though the interest has always been there. If I have any talent in this area, it's probably translation (Japanese/Spanish>English), but I have a lot of passion for the technical side.
Currently trying to find my niche. SNES is what I'd like to work on, but whooo-eeee, the learning curve is steep as heck (I'm very eager to learn though, and have been making some headway; but, like, I haven't even been able to crack the meager bit of text in Libble Rabble). I'm trying my hand at finding some remaining "low hanging fruit" on the NES for now, just to get my feet wet. I'm open to learning about hacking/translating on other consoles, but the NES/SNES/GB/Genesis stick at the front of my mind, largely due to nostalgia.
About me in general... I'm in my mid-30s and my most defining characteristic is that I have none. I listen to all types of music, enjoy all types of movies; I haven't stayed in the same field, much less the same job for more than 18 months; I like video games, but I truly suck at them, and spend vastly more time reading/watching about games than I do actually playing. Somewhat unusual: I unicycle, I'm very knowledgeable about coffee/sake/shochu, and I like to travel extensively.
I hope to learn a lot from this community and hopefully contribute meaningfully as well, once I have some more experience.
