I'm not really into signing up for this kind of stuff because I'm by habit, a loner.  But romhacking has lately become my favorite hobby; to the point where it's starting to define who I am.  I have looked through your message boards and I approve of the anti-aggression mentality that seems to prevail here (so rare on something that's widely available on the internet)
Well, I began getting into hacking SNES games during Januray 2009.  I started trying to make a level editor for DQVI, but they can't even get the text done on that one, so you can guess how far I got with that project.  At about the same time, I picked up an old Japanese game called Tenchi Muyo.  I ended up falling in love with this game.  It taught me everything I needed to know about 65C816 programming.  (except the SPC stuff.  I need help there:) But I love this game man, it's my current project that I dislike.  (I can't say 'hate' anymore because I'm making progress.  I just don't spend too much time with it because the TM retrans always needs work:)

I guess what I'm trying to say is:  If you'll have me, then I would like to be a member of your community.

Cheers,
borderLine-

Ningyo

Hello, another newbie here :)

Been lurking for quite some time, but finally registered. I am no good a hacking or programming, but can do some translation... so I'm mostly here looking for help with all the technical stuff.

Nice to meet you all!

Kronus_Arm

A warm hello to Ya'll!!!

Like those other guys, I've also been also lurking around since, looking for good hacks and translations of some good J-Only-Released-Games, actually the site is good and healthy and I think it's about time that I join the fun.

I first knew about ROM Hacking about last 3 years ago, I came to knew it as I discovered emulation late in 2004, the very first emulator that I got my hands on is VisualBoyAdvance, having a desire of playing Golden Sun and Circle of The Moon on my PC... Soon as months and years progress I soon discovered the world of emulation is BIG, literally, BIG! Communities and hells and tons of websites everywhere on the internet! So one day early 2006 I came across some forums posts about the site and take interest and sooner that I know it, I was in it.... (Hahaha!!!) Anyway big story who cares anyway.

I'm also a newbie, with no knowledge of ROM Hacking, although I do know a little bit about programming languages such as: Java, Ruby, C/C++ and web developing stuff, although I REALLY and HONESTLY have limited knowledge...

I want to also, make a fun (and as possible, useful) hacks for people and something to put up here and be a proud and aspiring hobbyist ROM Hacker Someday... (I hope this day comes...)

EDIT: And oh, thanks to emulation I became a big fan of Old-School Games!
SNES and MAME For All!!!

:)

CloneMega

I am CloneMega and I am a HUGE Megaman fan. In the beginning I knew nothing about hacks, I didn't even know hacks existed, until I watched a YouTube video from Woodman's level of Megaman Ultra.

I hope someday I can make my own hack...

MagicHerb

Hey, I'm MagicHerb.

I'm a strange female from Britain, getting back into programming in a big way. Looking to learn rom hacking, but I really am struggling to find any good tools usable with Ubuntu. Which is a little irritating, but it encouraging me even more to invest in a Windows laptop.

My main interests game-hacking wise would have to be Metroid, Zelda and Fire Emblem. I'll probably dabble in more as I improve and experiment. I've known about hacking for a fair while, and I found this site about a year ago when looking for translation patches.

I hope to get a better idea of what I'm doing soon, and I promise not to be a prat on here.

SBK

Howdy folks. Some of you may already know me. I use to go by Kabucho.

I'm an old, washed out ROM hacker who has forgotten most of what any skill I had in ROM hacking. I seem to stick around because of the fact... there is no fact. I just like hanging out. :)

Anywho, good to be on the RHDN boards *finally.*

DarkSol

I am DarkSol... and this is me on my boat.

It is wrong to try to avoid the struggle against imperialism under the pretext that independence and revolution are important, but that peace is still more precious.

DensetsuAE86

Hey guys, another newbie here. I'm Chris, i'm 17 turning 18 on the 21st. I'm in my last year at school going to University (College for all you Americans lol) next year doing a degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor in Japanese. I've been into emulation since I was about 7 when I started playing Pokemon on PC because I didn't have a gameboy.

My Rom Hacking skills at the moment are pretty much non-existent but i'm learning. I have been learning Japanese for 5 1/2 years though so I can help with translations. My Kanji knowledge is not the best though  ::).

I am a big Nintendo fan, especially Dragonball (Z) games on Nintendo consoles. I own Hyper Dimension on Super Famicom, this game is one of my favourites.

Yep, that is about all I can say I think. I have posted a Help Wanted ad for Technical Help with Translating a Dragonball Z Gameboy game.

Thanks

cloudintheskies

Hello all...

I'm cloudintheskies (or Aaron, if you want). I'm 15 years of age and I joined after realizing that after all these years of emulation and playing RomHacks I've never actually Googled "Romhack" which is how I found this wonderful site.

So I joined the forums straight away.
I have previously attempted making a Mario RomHack with Lunar Magic but I felt like it was doing far too much of the actual work all by itself so I want to learn basic to advanced hex editing and other rom hacking based languages and such...

That's also the reason why I hate DreamWeaver, other than the fact that it's so damn expensive and annoying to use, it's too much of a GUI for my liking... Give me notepad anyday.

I have a large kowledge of HTML and a basic knowledge of C++ (but don't ask me to make you anything  ^^")...

Well I think I've rambled on enough...

Oh yeah, one more thing,

METAL FTW, lol... :D

Malacath

Hello guys, im Malacath. Maybe you've seen me in IRC? Anyway, Nice to meet you guys.

dinosaurJR

Hey guys, I facepalmed so hard when I found this - I just made a new thread... Sorry for the idiocy...

I am dinosaurJR - some of you might know me from the Filefront gaming forums, of MSFC? If not, its cool...

Hello!

Wizrobe

Well, let's get this introduction out to you guys.

My names Ross and I've been into videogames for as long as I can remember. It was only recently that I decided I wanted to hack them as well. After downloading roms and playing them, I think it's time now I started hacking them. Thus, you see me here in this community for assistance in doing so. I am new though, and I'm willing to learn whatever I should to hack. I've been reading over the hacking tutorials contained on this site, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I will be mostly trying to hack Gameboy games(gb).
There's a few games I intend to hack: LoZ: Links Awakening, Pokemon Blue, Donkey Kong Land, and Super Mario Land 2.
Now I've been told that Pokemon Blue is going to be pretty difficult to hack because of the way it is coded but I don't want to let that stop me. I mainly want help editing script, insert custom pokemon(battle) sprites, and changing evolutions.
Donkey Kong Land is purely experimental, as no hacking utillities exist specifically for this game. Therefore I will be finding general data in this game.

I wil try to completely remake Super Mario Land 2 and Links Awakening to make them harder meaning level editing and enemy editing.
Well that's about it and I apologize if this isn't the right location for this thread. :-\

Vegetaman

Howdy, I'm Vegetaman (call me Veg, V-man or Veggie for short), and am in my early 20s and have a degree in computer science. Been into hex editing for a few years and figured I should try my hand at some ROM stuff. Oh... I also enjoy heavy metal.

Also, the only systems I own are Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, GameBoy, and Dreamcast. I pretty much gave up on gaming (I haven't bought a game in years, though one of these days I'll pick up the Half-Life 2 stuff and maybe Diablo 3, I've pretty much moved on to PC games). I just like the older stuff, really (including older PC games like Diablo, Wolfenstein, Doom, etc.)

Welcome to RHDN.

Haha. You've got good taste in games and music, it seems.

If you're into Diablo-esque games, an awesome game came out recently by the name of Torchlight. It's made by the some guys who worked on Diablo and left Blizzard. It's a very neat game (and cheap too, $20). You should definitely check it out. I just got it today, and I'm quite happy with it so far. ^^;

Welcome to the board.

Thank you!

I actually played a Demo of the game Fate and then a Demo of Torchlight, and absolutely loved them both. Definitely thinking about buying them.
