Haven't seen this site too much before, but recently I went down a rabbit hole that ultimately led me to try making an improvement romhack (of a terrible version of a game I'm hyperfixated on at the moment), and it was suggested that I go here. Makes sense, I'd say. :P

I've managed to get a decent grasp on 6502 Assembly in that time, so that's pretty cool. MESEN is a godsend. Never done anything like this before, but hyperfixation motivation is powerful stuff. :P
Quote from: WanderingHeiho on April 20, 2023, 02:02:07 AMHowdy everyone!
I'm WanderingHeiho. While I'm fairly new to the hacking side of things, I have had a little experience in the past with editing image graphics for another project (it was for a PSP game, so not too helpful for what I'm hoping to do here).

While I still don't know much about the extremely technical things like 6502 ASM, I've been able to make some progress with a project I started recently and I've been finding it relaxing somehow. Happy to be a part of this community!
Quote from: OmnidoxTheModder on April 22, 2023, 04:08:11 AMHey There!
I'm OmnidoxTheModder and I'm kind of new to rom hacking. I am a fan of the original DKC trilogy (you can guess that  by my profile picture) and wondering how to make a rom hack out of DKC1/2/3 without doing ASM or text.

Thank you for making me happy to be a part of this community!

Hi, I'm ianmi, also known as Meztli.

I live somewhere in Planet Earth (although my profile says something different)  ::)

I Love NES-Famicom games. I still possess a Famicom console: it has a small failure but it can be repaired. It was given to me by my older brother as a Christmas gift in 1994. I still remember the good teenager times playing NES-Famicom carts at that time. For now, I'm using an emulator to play NES-Famicom games.

My favorite games are Tengen Tetris, Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan), Super Mario Bros. 3, Battle City, The Legend Of Zelda, Dig Dug, The Legend of Kage and many other NES-Famicom games.

I'm a mathematician, Master in Teaching for Higher Education and I have bachelor-level studies in electrical engineering. Also I'm an amateur artist: traditional and digital drawings, mostly fantasy-related, family-friendly stuff. Besides, I was an amateur music producer (now retired).

Well, that's what I want to talk about myself, for now. If you want to know more, PM me. I'm more friendly than you may think!!  :)
I Love NES-Famicom games!!

Hey there! I'm Lucas, also known as Herald.

I just recently rediscovered a long lost passion for 8 and 16-bit games, as well as indies. Those childhood memories keep coming and I just can't stop them!! My favorite games are The Legend of Zelda and Chrono Trigger. Not the originalest IK, but hey, I do dig an occasional action platformer too!

Some friends introduced me to the wonderful world of RomHacking and I'm very glad for that! This seems to be a great community, so much so that I wish to be of help in the future, if I can. I wanted to make this account just to share those feelings.

Talking personal life, I'm christian and a medical student, currently at the very last year of College. Also as a married gamer, I'm very much eager to teach my kids the ol' ways of NES (as soon as I have them, I mean  ::) ). Gotta pass on those sweet, sweet memories forward!

And I think that's it!
Do PM me if you wish to exchange some bits of wisdom.
Cheers all the way from Brazil!

Mangken

Hi, I'm Mangken4 :) (or you may somehow know me as PuPTooN), a retro game hunter (interested with games from the 90s), and talented translator/ transcriber. I'm also a bit of a graphic designer. :)

Fluent with English and Japanese has been a tool for translation/transcription as I made some English friendly guides for obscure games on Gamefaqs. The major project I took on was translating the sequel for Osamu Sato's Eastern Mind, Chu Teng and I was the translator and lead designer.  8)

Games I grew up include Dragon Quest, Rhythm Heaven, Pokemon Gold, Cho Aniki, Earthbound.
Well, not much for private life, but I was a cosplayer and the only award I got was for Bianca from Dragon Quest V. Also I'm a print operator.

Anyway, this will be my closure of my introduction and If curious, don't be afraid to PM me.

RickN

Hello! I'm Rick

Long time fan of the site. I've always been amazed by the huge amount of content created every month. Almost seems like there's no shortage of energy or enthusiasm.

I am newbie here and just saying hello and also want to know something about rom-hacking as a newbie.

I really just want to know how to start rom hacking. I have ideas for hacks and just want to see how hard is it to hack, I doubt I can be good at hacking but don't know unless you try.

It depends on the game and what you want to change, and on which tools are available. There are hacks where one literally only has to change one byte;

KanedaFr

Hi
KanedaFr here ;)

I retro develop for many systems for years but not Nintendo's.
I register here because, well, I had a request I couldn't ignore to translate a FC game ;)
So I came to study and do my duty the best way possible

Cram-o-dev

Hello, you can call me Cram-o-dev.

I'm a huge fan of Pokemon and several other games, and it always amazes me what fans of them can do with their rom hacks.
I'm very in-experienced with rom hacking, but I do like to mess around with a lot of the classic Pokemon games for fun, as these were my childhood favorites.

Brian

How am I able to post I only figured out how to reply to post?
