Quote from: thingsiplay on February 20, 2023, 02:04:06 AMHi everyone. I am from the 80s Germany and love playing emulated games. I am not a skilled romhacker or anything like that, just doing little scripting and Python and learn a bit Rust language. And as someone who loves using Linux and Open Source, it bugs me that many Romhacking related tools are Windows only or not even Open Source. Luckily lot of these tools can be used nonetheless, but don't integrate into the system well.

The Game Boy was my first "console", because my parents didn't like videogames and having a handheld was my only option.
Welcome.

Hi. You can call me artee.

I've been around the romhacking community off and on for a while, but I'm surprised that I never made an account here. I guess I did post here once as a guest (back when that was still a thing (I'm just assuming it's not a thing)) like 12 years ago in some thread related to the Mega Man 1 for Game Boy, but yeah I finally have an account.

Hi all, I grew up with the NES and over the years I've gone through phases where I enjoy figuring out what's going on under the hood.

Sometimes it's to figure out a cheat. Sometimes it's to better appreciate the game mechanics. Once, with Wizardry it was an exercise in understanding how levels were stored.  Other times its because reverse engineering the code is much more fun than the game itself...

Lately, I've been diving deep into Friday the 13th and wanted to share what I've been finding out. I intend to make a post in the ROM Hacking Discussion board soon about it.

Hallo Player

Hi, I'm Hallo Gamer and I'm a student. I'm currently interested in Romhacks and would love to interview some romhackers for an assignment. I have some questions prepared and look forward to asking people of the community some questions like. Eg. How has Romhack influenced gaming and it's community what is it's greatest impact on players new and old.

Zorzamoth // 潘玉宝

Hello! 大家好!

I'm Zorzamoth or 潘玉宝 (PanYuBao), a guy who was always interested in video games, computers and such since the 80's.

I'm looking to help translate some games. I can help with:

- Spanish: native level.
- Galician: native level.
- English: of course!
- French: kinda rusty, but I should be able to understand it fine.
- Chinese (simplified): been studying it for a while. I'm far from fluent on it, but I'm progressing!
- As an extra, I've started studying Arabic! I'm still super green at it, just starting to learn the abjad and working on not getting ط and ظ or ج, ح and خ confused, haha.

Actually, it's due to my studies of Chinese that I'm here. As I was always very interested in video games, I thought that I could play some Chinese games to help me learn.

And I found many wonderful sagas! Sword and Fairy (or Chinese Paladin), Xuan-Yuan Sword, GuJian, and many others... they are all series of great games. But alas, most of them haven't got any translation, or only recently started being translated.

Sword and Fairy, for example, only has official translations for the 6th and 7th games in the saga, and only the first game has been completely fan translated, though other games like SnF5 and SnF5 prequel have their fan translations in the works.

So, hopefully, I would love to someday get to translate some of those games, like Sword and Fairy 2. They tend to be quite deep in story and lore, so it's a really big task!

In any case, if anyone is specialist in translating specifically Chinese games, please be welcome to talk to me! Thank you, 谢谢!

I'm a big fan of this site. I've probably been visiting it for over 10 years, but this is my first post. I just wanted to say "THANK YOU!" to whomever maintains the newsfeed and databases! I love being knowing what is new and looking for things that I'm interested in is so easy on this site.

Hello there!
I registered but I made a typo in the "actual" username (not the displayed one, the displayed one is correct).
Is there a way to fix this?

Oattime

Hello I'm Oattime, I came on here mainly to get Ace Attorney games but there's definitely more here that I'm also interested in.
I am 18 years old and have been gaming for as long as I can remember.

Gusmez

Hi everyone, I'm pretty much a complete n00b at hacking ROM's. All I've done so far is a few script changes and editing characters stats in a character editor, but now I've decided to jump in at the deep end by sponging up all the information I possibly can and making a comprehensive hack of FFVIus.

farnandez

Hello everyone, my name is farnandez and I think this is my first post as a newbie because I don't have any post count in my profile...Nice to meet you all

The Wandering Riot

I'm not particularly new to RHDN, but I always stopped here whenever I needed my fix on PC Engine and other CD hacks.
So for the first time in many years, I owe it to say "Hi" to everyone in here! :)

The Tomato Watcher

Hi :)
Haven't seen this site too much before, but recently I went down a rabbit hole that ultimately led me to try making an improvement romhack (of a terrible version of a game I'm hyperfixated on at the moment), and it was suggested that I go here. Makes sense, I'd say. :P

I've managed to get a decent grasp on 6502 Assembly in that time, so that's pretty cool. MESEN is a godsend. Never done anything like this before, but hyperfixation motivation is powerful stuff. :P

WanderingHeiho

Howdy everyone!
I'm WanderingHeiho. While I'm fairly new to the hacking side of things, I have had a little experience in the past with editing image graphics for another project (it was for a PSP game, so not too helpful for what I'm hoping to do here).

While I still don't know much about the extremely technical things like 6502 ASM, I've been able to make some progress with a project I started recently and I've been finding it relaxing somehow. Happy to be a part of this community!

OmnidoxTheModder

Hey There!
I'm OmnidoxTheModder and I'm kind of new to rom hacking. I am a fan of the original DKC trilogy (you can guess that  by my profile picture) and wondering how to make a rom hack out of DKC1/2/3 without doing ASM or text.

Thank you for making me happy to be a part of this community!
