Hello forum, Ive been into romhacking for about 10 years now, tried doing my own work with smile but I need more time to design.  One hack I want to do is zombies ate my neighbors, and make the SNES version look like genesis with the black side strip to display all the info, effectively cloning the Genesis version, but with the superior sound of the SNES.  You can see that the SNES version looks stretched out.  All they basically did was stretch the existing aspect ratio to get more screen space but it looks horrible imo

Indieatom

Hi, my name is Raphael Gama. Indieatom, as in the user name, is my YouTube channel. And no, I'm not saying for you to go to YT and follow, because my content is all in portuguese. XD Just pointing this because I'm registering to ROM hacking to find translation on games I want to review there.

Also, I'm a big fan on the preservation side and have been doing emulation tutorials for some time, also in portuguese for my brazilian folks.

Besides this YT fact, have been gaming for 32 years now. Love indie games and manga. And I work with narration, video making and translation. Never translated a game, but have done so with books, manga and a few comics. English to portuguese. Would love to know french and japanese, but I didn't had time yet to do so.

Sup? It's been one heck of long time since I've stepped into this place.
My previous account was RhysOwens101.
I lost all details due to A. a completely unexpected PC crash back in 2018, B. lacking the need to backup my account details.

It's okay now since I am more prepared this time around and I'm ready to finally, and hopefully, release something.

Hello! I am new here. I am here because I saw that there is a tool for stracting the ROMs from MegaMan x legacy collection and I wanted to make a translatiin of megaman x 1 to spanish (there is already 1 but is not for the Steam version)

hi, cobalt++ here. i used to mess around with lunar magic and other level editors back in the day. that got me into romhacking and low-level programming. nice to meet you all. :)

L.D. Ark

Hey y'all. I'm Ark. I used to be Lina Darkstar.

(Hermes voice) 🎵But that was long ago🎵 before we were on this road🎵

Anyway, some stuff happened, and now I'm feeling nostalgic and wondering who needs some character-driven translation work done by an old nerd. This seems to be the place to find out.

....

Hi, I'm Tescu. I'm a retro and Nintendo games enthusiast and I've been emulating since 11 on my trusty Android 4.4 phone, discovered them through playing Mario Flash games since the age of 4. I am a big fan of Mario, Kirby, old NES games, Taiko no Tatsujin and Ace Attorney.

I live in Bucharest, Romania, where barely anyone knows or even cares about these games (at least from what people I've met, feel free to contradict me on that one). Luckily I have with who to share my thoughts and have common subjects when it comes to games on the internet. My other interests are history, geography, and maths to some extent.

I started playing ROM hacks at 13, mostly of old Mario games. I have a Nintendo 2DS, which I hold dear to this day, and got me so much enjoyment and made me discover the much bigger world of Nintendo and even made me interested in consoles like PSP or Xbox 360. This also made me over the years interested in preservation and betas or prototypes of consoles and games alike.

I'm looking forward to translate a few Nintendo games in Romanian, my native language, as there is not a ton of these online, only about 15 old games I could find. I would be really happy to find some of my compatriots here or anywhere else in the retro gaming community.

This site seems to be one of the few forums which are still very active, as most are either dead or very unknown. This also happens to be my second experience with online forums as I only had access to social media for a good while there.

I am hoping that I will have a great time here, and I'm looking forward to meeting new cool people around here. Peace!

Fortunately, emulation is free (kind of ;)). I first became interested in emulation in 1997, when Nesticle was released. Later, Genecyst was used, and then I ran an outdated version of ZSNES, loaded Final Fantasy 6, and almost puked. It didn't take me long until I was spending that summer playing a variety of import ROMs and hoped I could somehow comprehend what was happening in Bahamut Lagoon.

BJ_Sturgeon

Hæ!
I'm from Austria and want to get into ROMhacking, mostly for wrestling/fighting game related stuff.

Chemick

Hey guys, I joined to learn more about the rom hacking scene and I hope to contribute in some way. I can program and I'm happy to get dirty with Assembly code, and I'm happy to build tools. Some of the work I've seen here is incredible.

Personally I'm most fond of the Game Boy Advance scene. My favorite games are from this era. I've always felt an appreciation for the old handheld games and I may have found my people :)

Wolfy190

Hi, I'm Wolfy. I'm a big fan of Gameboy Advance games and I've been interested into music from those games for a while. (Mostly from Pokémon games) I've been emulating for a few years, but I started going in the ROM hacking part only recently. English isn't my native language, so I might make a few spelling mistakes, but I try my best. I like PSX games too. I'm mostly into RPG's

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've been playing video games since the late 80's, ROMs since the late 90's, and have been interested in romhacks/romhacking since the mid 2000's. My main interest is in RPGs, particularly from the NES/SNES era. My first RPG was Dragon Warrior I from the old Nintendo Power giveaway promo, and I've been hooked on RPGs ever since. I've also been a giant Dungeons & Dragons geek for most of my life as well.

I'm a computer programmer with some game programming experience, but I've also had some experience with embedded microcontrollers and assembly. I've dabbled with romhacking from time to time over the last 15 years or so, but it never really stuck with me long enough to get very far. I've had a lot more free time on my hands in recent times though, and have taken a much more serious interest in it.

I'm still learning and practicing, mostly on NES games for now, and have a few things in the oven. I like working at the bytecode level on tweaks and features, but I'm still a little green on the media side of things. I strive to do things with a minimal footprint, avoiding using freespace if possible for maximum compatibility with other hacks.

I've been spending a lot of my time back-engineering Dragon Warrior IV as a general learning experience since it's one of my favorite NES games, has been barely touched (relatively speaking), and is one of the most advanced NES RPGs produced before the SNES took over completely. I'm interested in working on a variety of other games though, and would like to expand into some more involved SNES projects later on.

So, yeah, hello! I hope to stick around for a while and finally get some stuff accomplished!

Thanks!

I have a couple of Dragon Warrior 1 tweaks I'm currently playtesting I'd like to upload soon.

Hi everyone I am Joe, and em new here. :)

Zoldam

Figured I should say hi here before posting elsewhere. Only ever dabbled in very simple and basic ROM hacking, doing things such as increasing enemy damage/HP/etc. before tools were widely available for that sort of thing, never any big projects. Had a lot of free time recently and been expanding a bit so figured I should finally sign up here.

Hi all! Old emulator user! Started with the old neo geo emulator for DOS (wich and cant remember its name lol)
I found this site recently because i wanna play some games that have something new to them (hacks)!

Daizo Dee Von

If there was one thing people didn't want me to be, it's to be unexpected. I'm here to show that being unexpected is a good thing, to go against the grain and surprise people with something that they've never experienced before. Sometimes it's a hit, sometimes it's a miss, but I always go for something original, or spin an existing idea in a new direction.

That's me in a nutshell. Hey there Mates and Femates, this is Daizo Dee Von. I'm most known for 100 Rooms of Enemies, but I've made about 11 other official ROM Hacks, more than half being completed. I see ALPHA SPHERE and it's prequel got accepted relatively quickly, which I'm happy to see.

If you're wondering why I'm here, Yukivee is the one who recommended that I join here (the creator of the Sicari series). Maybe you'll see more of me in the future!

Anyway remember, it's never a "good bye", it's always a "see you later".
