Hello, all!

I guess I'm relatively new to rom hacking.  I've been into video games ever since I got a Nintendo God knows when.

I've been sequencing video game music MIDIs (mainly NES) back in 2002.

I made a few NSF covers that are still in the incoming archive at 2a03.org:

http://www.2a03.org/browse.php/2A03/incoming/covers

I decided my first hacking project be a big one:

http://www.famicomworld.com/development/aladdin.htm

Hmm... it seems like the page has been altered as with the rest of the site *damn them*

Anyways, I took some time off to do a small hack of Journey To Silius, but now I turned that into something big, & it's taking much longer than anticipated.  I'm almost done, though.  I keep telling myself that.

Welcome to the board.

I took a look at your Aladdin work so far. That's an interesting and original choice for a project. It would be cool if you can fix that game up to be something nice. I know you're still new and learning, but down the road, you will probably want to learn some NES(6502) assembly. That's probably the only way you'd be able to fix some of the glitches in the game, add some new text, etc. Some of those things may be very difficult to do with it. Good Luck with the project.

In any event, it's looking good so far... those "mug shots" for the password screen are definitely an improvement (especially the Genie and Jafar).

Kitsune Sniper

Holy shit, that's some good sprite work. Welcome here.

Oh, so you know - the Aladdin rom has a very strange feature. If you reset the game, you'll sometimes end up with a version of the game that uses Popeye Sprites! See this page for the rom, hope Nightcrawler won't mind since these are all pirates.

So that's what it is?  I saw the Popeye sprites there before, but didn't know they were used.  I was going to hack them in & make a Popeye hack.

Apparently, it's the Aladdin II version.

MrForbeez

Hey, I'm a transfer from Acmlm's. I'm considering finding a new board, because there's just too much drama and teenage stupidity for my taste.

Though I admit that they can be helpful and the more elite members release some pretty epic stuff, the general userbase added to the way the mods/owner handle things, I'm finding that place to be more and more of a pain than a community worth going to for help/to help/babbling when I'm in the mood.

So a couple relevant things about me:
I have a working knowledge of ASP and C++ (not so much the C++ anymore because of lack of use), a currently unusable but existant level of understanding of the 6502/65816.
My current project is figuring out everything I need to figure out for making a fairly thorough text editor for Secret of Evermore (in other words, move beyond the words per sentence limitations made by the game, and a couple other details). I'd like to be able to make more editors, but we'll see what happens.

Slightly irrelevant:
I'm 19, a tech, ex military (left coast guard during boot camp due to sickness/anxiety problems, never went back), was sort of a nerd/jock combo in school, graduated when I was 16, been working ever since (well, I was homeless for a little while though, lost the job I had when I moved, then couldn't get another job because I was under 18, thus the coast guard thing) I'm pretty good with FAQs and googling things before asking questions, so there won't be much to worry about when it comes to me being too stupid.

Extraordinarily belated hi to you all. I'm Ryusui. I will rule the world someday, me and my little furry friends. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Welcome to the board, enjoy your stay, and pay attention to me at all times, because it just so happens that I might have something useful to say in the middle of all my insane rantings. *straps himself back into his straitjacket and goes back to translation hacking with a rusty fork clutched between his teeth*

Let's see.  Looking at your local time, I'd say you live somewhere on or closer to the east coast.  That's all I can tell from your post/profile.

You need to update your info. :P

Welcome to the board.

Can you be a bit more precise on your submission troubles?

yes i know what files they want me to link to but i don't know if i can give the same link for all files because with my web server it's easier for me to put all the files on one page with the site builder other wise i would have to create multiple pages for every hack that i want to upload, and do i have to write a separate read me file, all my hacks have a read me inside there *.zip file.

thanks i hope this explains my problem better.
